Ann Coulter Thinks We're Bombing Egypt (Video)

Local conservative provocateur Ann Coulter appeared on Real Time With Bill Maher last night, sparring with the Hollywood-elite comedian at every opportunity. The two are "friends" in real life (Maher introduced Coulter as "my first wife," and the two reportedly meet for lunch from time to time). But on the show, it was Coulter's antigovernment railing versus Maher's someone-please-explain-the-teabaggers: comedy gold.

Coulter interrupted Maher's closing monologue, but she didn't really put her foot in her mouth until Overtime, the extra question-and-answer bit after the show that HBO relegates to its website.

There was talk of war and supporting wars. Then Coulter asked Maher, "What do you think about Libya and Egypt?"

"What about them?" asked Maher.

"Are you in favor of us intervening in those countries for purposes of regime change?"

"First of all, I didn't think we were intervening in Egypt," said Maher.

"Well, dropping bombs or something!" pleaded Coulter.

The panel, including Chris Hayes of The Nation and MSNBC, erupted in protest. "No, not in Egypt!" Coulter was like the school kid who gave the wrong answer and was obnoxiously called out in unison by her wiseass classmates.

Maher clarified, "No Egypt. No Egypt bombs, no. Just Libya bombs."

"But we were threatening to which is why Mubarak left!" argued Coulter.

"No, we never threatened. No, no," said Maher.

Coulter gave up the fight at that point. She's probably glad that this wa seen by only a handful of bored Friday-night HBO addicts... but then again, she might play it off as some vicious liberal-media sleight of hand.

I've long thought Ann Coulter is far too intelligent to truly believe most of the nonsense that she passes off as 'commentary'. I think one of the reasons Maher doesn't blast her out of the water is because she's just doing and saying far-right wing rubbish because it makes her a great deal of money. In Coulter's personal life, she's far less "conservative" than fellow conservatives would tolerate, leading me to think she's just saying one outrageous thing after another to see what gets traction. Eh, could be wrong, but Maher's a pretty good judge of BS and if he holds her in some esteem, she may not be all bad.

I agree with you. I think she plays the role and makes lots of bucks from her rants. Much of her diatribe gets to be really funny if you listen to her for any length of time. It appears that, depending on her audience and their reaction, she will modify her statements and get more or less radical. Books, personal appearances and media columns and appearances make her a lot of money.

I thought her annoying and relentless cackle stole the show....and irritated the crap out of me.

Maher had his best closing monologue ever, comparing the blindness of the Casey Anthony jury with the blindness of middle class conservatives. Just as the Anthony jurors are incapable of seeing Casey for what she was, middle class conservatives are equally blind to the fact that they are stooges for the elite.

Brilliant!

Watched the show and was thinking this woman has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Why the stupid cackle of a laughter also ?

I watch Bill Maher every Friday and love him. Ann Coulter has to learn to control her mouth. She is so bias and mean. This is not a great combination. I think Bill Maher give her too much attention.......She  did not add any interest to his show

I was shocked that Coulter was not as nasty as she usually is.  She still said some moronic things but in all was pretty mellow.  Does goes to show who really is "fair and balanced" though and it sure isnt Anns favorite FOX.She is still a harpy though.
