Allen West Doesn't Rule Out Vice Presidential Bid

During the church's "Faith, Freedom and Fireworks" celebration on Sunday, Rev. Larry Thompson, on stage next to West, told the congressman his name has been mentioned "time and time again" as a potential vice presidential candidate -- which is news to us -- and asked him what he thought of the idea.
"So what do you think?" Thompson asked, in video captured by the Sun-Sentinel. "I mean right here, let's go ahead and announce it."
Thompson asked if he could spend a night at the Blair House -- the official guest house of the president -- if West were elected as vice president.
"Why not?" West said. "You all got it on camera."
West didn't directly answer whether he'd be willing to pursue a vice presidential bid, but he still won't deny it.
The question of West in the V.P. spot first came up in February, when former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich mentioned West -- as well as Gov. Rick Scott and Sen. Marco Rubio -- as a possibility to run alongside him.
West certainly seemed optimistic about it then, and he surely hasn't shot it down since.
The problem, however, would be whether the eventual GOP presidential nominee would want West.
Gingrich's campaign is going way down the tubes, so that doesn't look like a great possibility for West.
The GOP frontrunner, Mitt Romney, has endorsed West in the past, although his name hasn't been tossed around by Romney at all.
Remember it was Marco Rubio that Romney's staff has had their eyes on, so we're going to file West's vice presidential optimism under the "wishful thinking" file.
