Democrats Call on Allen West Censure and Apology, Neither of Which Are Likely

Florida Democratic Party Chairman Rod Smith today demanded an apology from West, citing his "long history of inappropriate behavior."
That's some wishful thinking, although neither is likely to happen.
A "reprimand" from the House of Representatives would likely be the only thing that could be brought up.
The last representative reprimanded by the House for a stupid comment was South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson, for screaming "you lie!" at President Obama during a joint session of Congress.
The last representative to face a censure from the House for speech was Texas Rep. Thomas Blanton in 1921, for "unparliamentary language."
Murphy did leave a nice, fiery message against West, though, in advocating his censure:
Allen West has a long history of outrageous comments. However, in the last two days, West has demonstrated unusually bizarre behavior - showing himself to be truly unhinged and incapable of controlling himself. As if referring to Americans who support their President as a "threat to the gene pool" wasn't bad enough, West then unleashed a personal assult on Representative Wasserman Schultz calling her "vile" and "despicable". He then had the audacity to label this brave elected leader who courageously shared her successful struggle with breast cancer with the nation as a "coward". Enough is enough. His conduct is unbecoming a member of Congress. He has disrespected his office and should be censured by the House of Representatives immediately.
West apologizing is even more of a long shot.
We've only known the word "sorry" to come from the congressman (or his office) twice -- once when his intern retweeted a pro-gay band on Twitter, and the other time when he was throwing a fit against New Times calling him out for his flag gaffe, saying, "Well, doggone sorry, perhaps next time I will put on a tie-dyed shirt and jeans, dance around singing anti-war, anti-American songs, and burn a flag."
Still, the flak West is getting from his email tirade continues to mount.
Former Rep. Ron Klein told Politico West's comments were "so over the top, it is hard to even comment."
"I wish I could say I was surprised," says Steve Israel, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman. "Unfortunately, this is exactly the sort of partisan tantrum we're used to from House Republicans as they push our economy to the brink of disaster while pandering to their Tea Party base."
Israel also asked for some donations in that email.
West's other hopeful Democratic challenger, Lois Frankel, said his comments were "out of control, rude, sexist and completely inappropriate."
As usual, West is unfazed, and will be likely be keeping up his antics.
