Turns out, pill mills pain management clinics might not be the bastions of medical ethics once thought.

North Lauderdale's Center for Wellness and Weight Loss, Inc. claims that two former employees pilfered confidential patient information via text and tried to poach these clients from the clinic, according to a recently filed lawsuit. The ex-staffers, Heber Olivencia, Jr. and Amanda Myers, then used these med records to lure patients to a new clinic, Elite Healthcare Management, which Olivencia opened this spring, the lawsuit claims.

Myers -- who had been responsible for scheduling appointments at the Center -- quit that gig, then started working for Olivencia.

At the new office, court docs claim, Myers started calling the Center's patients and offered them "discounts to utilize Elite's services."

The Center says that the pair's move cost them more than $100,000 and caused "substantial" and "irreparable" harm.
