Leslie Nielsen, a Fort Lauderdale favorite, died November 28, 2010, at age 84.
Surely late actor Leslie Nielsen couldn't still be making jokes, six months after he died of pneumonia, could he?

He is, and don't call us Shirley.

Pictures today show Nielsen's Fort Lauderdale gravesite at Evergreen Cemetery -- which, of course, wouldn't be complete without a couple of one-liners.

"Let 'er rip," a reference to Nielsen's penchant for fart-related humor, is engraved on his gravestone -- something he had declared his epitaph should read a few years before his death.

There's also a bench facing the gravestone reading, "Sit down whenever you can" -- which was the advice he would give aspiring actors looking to make it big.

We went over to the cemetery to check it out, where we ran into a Nielsen fan who says she still can't believe Nielsen is dead.

The woman tells New Times she's friends of an unnamed Nielsen ex-girlfriend who knew plenty of stories about the man that she says she probably shouldn't tell a reporter.

Then her phone went off -- playing the Naked Gun theme song of course.

Check out the photos of Nielsen's gravesite below:

I'm getting flashbacks to the movie "Poltergeist" where Craig T. Nelson is yelling at his boss:"You didn't move the bodies did ya? You only moved the headstones. You only moved the headstones!" But in this thing the headstone is a best, very useful. The best headstone in the world

I hear from a well placed source that Mooney left so he could write the story about pill mill clinics that New Times editor Eric Barton would never allow because they are all advertisers.

Now I know why we don't see Mooney here anymore. He clearly left New Times to keep a constant vigil next to Leslie's grave.

When Nielsen was interviewing with the ZAZ crew for "Airplane!", they were embarrassed by the fact that someone was farting frequently. Eventually they figured out HE had been making the noises.  I wonder if that was to present a different image than expected, since before "Airplane!" he was primarily known for his tough no-nonsense characters (like the spaceship commander in "Forbidden Planet".

So "Let 'er rip!" was the sort of tactic which helped introduce Nielsen to a new group of moviegoers, and earned him an extra helping of fame (and money).

So, how long before somebody carves "Nice Beaver" into the stone under the bench?
