Debbie Wasserman Schultz Is Now "Debbie Downer" According To Republican Video

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman and South Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is now the basis of a recycled joke.

American Crossroads -- the group that provided millions of dollars to put conservative candidates in office in the 2010 midterm elections -- released an attack video on Wasserman Schultz today, ripping off the Saturday Night Live "Debbie Downer" theme song.

"With all of her over-the-top negative remarks, new DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has become a gift that keeps giving to Republicans," the group told the Daily Caller.

It's a little light on the facts, but heavy on the (intended?) humor.

The video even makes a reference to her recent Jim Crow reference, which she almost retracted after coming under fire from the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Here's a nice succinct summary of the video's intent from The Hill:

It's part of a new offensive by Republicans as of late against Wasserman Schultz; they seem to relish the political traction they get out of some of their more strident language. They like to think she's the Democratic equivalent of Michael Steele, the former Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman who was prone to gaffes.
It's no "I Like Ike," but it looks like this is the direction American Crossroads is going to go in.
