Activists Target Florida College Students Who Experiment on Animals

Negotiation is Over
Watch out, pre-med students.
Beware, collegiate science nerds: Just when you thought it was safe to spend the summer watching "Project Runway" and exploring the effects of medical marijuana, a new threat has emerged. Activists with the radical animal rights group Negotiation is Over are launching a new campaign to target budding doctors and scientists in Florida who dissect animals.

In August, the group will start distributing fliers on college campuses, asking students to rat out their friends. They're offering $100 to people who will provide the names, pictures, addresses, phone numbers, and other identifying information about students who conduct animal experiments. "Students Earn Ea$y Money!" the flier proclaims. "Provide us with the following, you can quit your part-time job."

"We want to force vivisection students to reconsider their plans and chose more humane
alternatives," says Camille Marino, founder of Negotiation is Over.

By publishing students, names, photos, and addresses, she adds, "We want to make their lives unbearably uncomfortable."

Marino's group helped launch the recent protests against the Puppy Palace in Hollywood, in which activists urged the store to stop selling commercially bred dogs. But the latest campaign --which specifically targets college students who want to pursue biomedical research -- is a new tactic, Marino says. A similar campaign has already begun at the University of Florida, but Marino would not identify which other colleges would be targeted.

"What we want to do is subvert the animal experimentation curriculum. Essentially, we want to shut it down," she says.

According to Marino, students can use computer models instead of experimenting on dead animals. She's hoping this campaign will encourage young scientists to steer clear of biotech institutions such as the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter, and instead work for companies that refuse to experiment on animals.

>>>>>Activists Target Florida College Students Who Experiment on Animals<<<<< I have questions, I hoping someone can answer. 1st. Is a question that I think I know the answer, is it illegal 2 make public that information, of people, especially, students?? 2nd. Do the students have any other option(s) 2 achieving passable grades n these projects & option(s) 2 achieving passable grades n these courses??

a future where animals arent tortured for science is a better future for legitimate science.

Students' privacy rights--yes, I would think so. You paid money to attend school and have a right to do so in peace and get an education. School is private property as well. If the school receives Federal or government monies this may bring you even more protection under Federal laws. All I know is that people have a RIGHT to attend class in peace-dealing with tough exams is hard enough without living in fear and harassment.

I googled this woman and she looks down right insane! She needs to find a hair brush and put those boobs away - she looks as unprofessional as her tactics.

You are all such a bunch of cowards, give up the name "guest". You all talk a lot of shit but you'd crap your little panties on a face off with me..guaran-Fu#in*teed! There's no science in animal experimentation, only sheeple would follow conform. You think you are "the wrong student" I am the RIGHT activist for you!

a retired doctor , and a good friend of mine, is dieing from cancer , he is 73, THE only REGRETS i have ever heard him talk about in his life, and he talks of it often , IS when he was in school and the animals they had used for experimentation,,,, it still bothers him to this day !!!!,,,, STUDENTS BEWARE !!!!,,,, what you do today, and the torture you cause today , you will have to take it with you to your grave when you go.

dawnmotes - if the good doctor would care to share his story and perhaps alleviate the guilt that only a man of compassion could be plagued by, i would like to invite him to publish his story on nio (anonymously if he so chooses) and perhaps help us stop students from succumbing to mutilation and murder before they start. every tool with which we can persuade students to choose correctly now is essential. I would greatly appreciate the benefit of learning from his experiences.

my email is camille@negotiationisover.com

i look forward to hearing from you

Dear god you animal activist right losers. Let the students get some practical experience. You can only learn so much from a computer simulation. If I was going to be a surgeon I would think I would have to learn how to cut into someone. You can't do that on the computer. Mind your own damn business and go eat a salad!

All labs using animals must write out a detailed report of how many animals they want to use, justify their use and must explore all other non-animal use alternatives before getting approved. The animals are housed in extremely clean conditions, monitored 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week by veterinarians and supportive staff. Any animal that is sick or injured must be attended to within 24 hours of the discovery. As researchers, in order to even enter an animal facility, we have to go through hours of animal handling and training courses. We even have to get vaccinated and wear surgical protection every time the facility is entered. There are 3 oversight committees that regulate animal practices with scheduled and random visits to assure all policies are being adhere to. If they are not, the university risks loosing accreditation to have animals. The animals are treated with respect and euthanized humanely. Countless scientific and medical breakthroughs have been accomplished through animal research. The meat industry should be a more pressing concern for animal rights activists because those animals that go into our food are not treated well at all.

I am a researcher who has 2 dozen dedicated students working with me. Everyone of them laugh at this puerile effort. They publish papers in the open scientific literature. They give open talks at open scientific conferences. They proudly discuss the crucial work they are doing that contributes positively to human health.

We are not afraid of you finding our names. And we are not afraid of your pathetic and misguided attempts to scare others. We are certainly not afraid of animal rights activists like Camille Marino and her sycophants. Quite the opposite, we pity them. Sociopaths like that deserve our help, not our fear.

@Researcher, you're students have a whole lot more gumption than you, eh??? why didn't you leave us your name oh brave exalted animal murderer?

Randall

Camille, maybe this is beyond your level, but it doesn't take a whole lot of gumption for a persecutor to post using their name.  Someone being targeted for potential violence would have to be a moron to identify themselves, no matter how justified or proud they are.

I doubt the African-Americans of yore would have identified themselves when corresponding with members of the Klan on the web had it existed back then.

If I put my name and address here, will you promise to send me a valid, trackable money order for $100 to meet the promise of advert? If so, you will send it FedEx and post the tracking number to this website so that all can determine if you have to conviction to follow through on your $100 offer.

CamilleMarino

look, pal, don't worry about my convictions. and don't try to posture when you're nothing but a two-bit terrorist -- a serial sado-murderer who's indoctrinating more degenerates into your vile & deviant universe.

we don't write checks at nio. we'll only use cash because we intend to insure and guarantee the anonymity of our informants. and that must suck for you.

now, a lesson in integrity.  you see my words and you see my name, right? this, you pathetic piece of dirt, means that i fully stand behind everything i saw and i hide from no one. and, btw, every vivisector in the country has my address and phone number. you don't? write jentsch. he'll be happy to help you out.

so let's review. those of us with integrity use our real names. and sniveling whiny cowards posture behind pseudonyms like "researcher." lesson over...

you've proven yourself to be a worthless coward who tortures restrained and helpless animals

prove me wrong!

The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that you cannot have reasonable expectations of privacy in when out in public. This information, such as name, address, and phone number, is also often documented in very public sources, such as in 'white pages'.Collecting the information is only half of it, and some very dedicated activists have been charged with stalking and given some jail time for carrying out some very extreme protests for a long time, often right on the doorstep of the 'animal torturers'.

cetude

Anony: I'm basing this on common sense since I'm certainly no expert on laws--so judge for yourself: Not everybody has their name/address in the "white pages"-everybody has that option to have an unlisted number because it's your right of privacy.  Rights to privacy includes being able to study and get an education in peace. If the school receives government funds these rights may extend to Federal levels. AND the school is private property; just like any store or shopping center is. A person is not permitted to take photos in stores unless they have the owner's permission, and the store owner has a right to ban individuals. Same goes with schools. Also in shopping centers NO individual has any kind of right to harass the customers-they can be banned and/or arrested. Same goes with people who disrupt classes and/or students who are patrons of the school (along with Government education funding).

if you can't even spell marijuana, you should not be pretending to know anything about what kind of experiments are conducted on animals with regard to cannabis or its derivatives.

He said he's "11" I think he should be commended for caring enough to write a comment and maybe you should read all that's there instead of only what you want to see !

You really believe that you would hit her when a crowd of police are right there watching you?I wouldn't be surprised if she carries a concealed firearm either, because these people are militant and prepared to fight for this cause, and to protect their own lives so that they may continue this battle.

Where did I say anything about hitting her? I was raised better than that. She would just be welcomed with a complete and accurate explanation about what a waste of space she is.

Wait until this Camille Marino knocks on the wrong sleep-deprived students door on the wrong day. In one single second this entire "campaign" is over. Also google that woman. Looks like a tranny.

Windwalker

If you think Camille is the only one keeping this campaign going then you are sadly mistaken.....also save your feeble attempts of generating fear. The only fear in this movement is the fear felt be the animals as the cruelty continues !

CamilleMarino
CamilleMarino

windwalker, they have no idea who we are, where we are, or how many universities are already under our microscope. they're used to terrorizing animals and enjoying peace of mind in their blood-money-financed private lives. they are beginning to understand what fear is and the fact that they cannot stop a revolution built on urgency and the commitment on single-minded "extremists" to stop that by any means necessary -- legal & creative &  and in-your-face aggressive -- is something they cannot counter.

i've seen this campaign called "puerile," "terrorism," and that we've awaked the "sleeping giant". i've seen a lot of bravado my nameless faceless animal abusers that know their days of  peace of mind is over and their reign of tyranny will end. they will be exposed and they will understand how serious and organized we are.

they know my name. that's  a good thing. and only i know our network of activists that are poised to ratchet up the war against abusers be they professionals or students mutilating animals in schools. the  line has been erased. just know that we are their future and they're dreading it.

conference saturday windwalker

You know why no one knows who you are?  It's because you're barely having any effect whatsoever. If your group is so unproductive that you have to blog about someone getting busted for hanging up flyers that should give you a clue.

So we're gonna experience the wrath of this sleeping giant?  When exactly?  Most universities barely feel the presence of PETA and that actually is a giant organization.  Megalomaniac much?

Great, then you're no better than them; you act all holy and righteous, but in the end, making all those threats makes you as bad or worse than the ones carrying out the experiments. Hypocrite.

I don't think this group knocks on doors; they typically are outside your house or apartment on a megaphone with a dozen or more people, men and women, and with their intense militant activist style, I expect them to often have concealed-carry firearm licenses to defend the lives of their cell, and their own so that they may continue the struggle. I would never attempt to engage in any kind of hostile action with these people. They are very dedicated, and a student would be going the wrong way by assaulting anyone, risking their education by spending time in jail. That would be one less vivisector, however, so go right ahead!

nanook5

pretending you're not allied with the group and intimating that daring to oppose them will get you murdered or imprisoned...

i'll avoid the myriad factual and legal, uhm, "mistruths" here and just say: the animals deserve better.
