Huck's Small, Still Voice

A brief update to this story, posted last night in anticipation of Mike Huckabee's announcement re: his presidential candidacy:

There will be no presidential candidacy. As Huck explains in the below video, he was practically a shoe-in for the presidency. All the objective evidence told him to run. He thought his poll numbers looked good, and he had the support of smart, capable, and decent folks who could help him "to the finish line."

It was only when he was alone, he explains, "in quiet and reflective moments, that [he] had not only clarity but an inexplicable inner peace...

...a peace that exceeds human understanding. All the factors say "go," but my heart says "no." And that's the decision I've made...

Now look, I don't fully understand it myself. But I'm sure the pundits will! But I do know this: That under the best of circumstances, being president is a job that takes one to the limit of his or her human capacity. For me, to do it apart from an inner confidence that I was undertaking it without God's full blessing is simply unthinkable.

Say, Huck -- are you sure that small, still voice urging you not to run was God? Any chance it might have been Michele Bachmann, hiding out under your bed?

I would like this site 1,000 times more if you would stop -- completely stop -- writing about such morons as Huckadoodle, War Criminal West, gun gal Joyce Kaufman, and all the others of this oleaginous ilk. Write about anything -- dog poop, anything -- except this crowd of criminals and imbeciles. Please!

Mommy, Wanda, and Dr. Augusta, we're always interested in feedback on what's working and not with this new venture. Feel free to call me at 954-233-1570. And in the meantime, I hope you'll give our new contributors a chance -- if you do, I think you'll find they're contributing to what's still South Florida's best blog.

There is an eerie parallel between the methods used by so-called Islamic fundamentalists to justify their holy war against non-Muslims and the tactics used by our own domestic right wing extremists to try to make their agenda seem patriotic. Fundamentalists from both camps have to ignore the overwhelming evidence that if God or the founding fathers of the American republic were here today, neither would be likely to be on the side of the zealots out championing their cause. Both the Islamic fundamentalists and the conservative reactionaries in the U.S. are trying to associate their rather twisted interpretation of scriptures to suit their purposes. They would deny us self determination and impose their brand of salvation upon us all.  Jock GillThis excerp is from an article written 10 years ago.....

Are there people that actually buy that bullshit?

This charlatan was caught stealing furniture from the Governor's mansion in Arkansas. It's all about the money.

There is nothing that does greater harm to the human brain than organized religion. It creates legions of gullibile idiots.
