Allen West Suggests Congressmen Should "Get Shot at a Few Times" to Change Opinion on Afghanistan

• If West talked this crazy during the campaign, then he lucked into a district of like-minded craziness.

• Wow, so people don't like what West says, and instantly doubt his military record, allege he wants congresspeople shot, and write him off as a macho maniac?  His record in the military is public knowledge, he was not always in the rear with the gear, and by firing his 9mm (not a .45, more ignorance of the situation) he saved the men he was leading from going into an ambush. Anyone who has been in combat understands it is a profound learning experience, and the rhetorical suggestion that congresspeople would likely be changed by it is not crazy machismo. But none of that appears to really matter, he is a frank conservative who answers every question he is asked, and has the temerity to mention his military experience, and on top of that, he happens to have dark skin.  Clearly all that is enough to merit scorn and disparagement from people who have a different view of politics.

• Another day, another Allen West moment of lunacy. He can't help himself. When he becomes consequential, someone will expose him right off of his "look at me" pedestal. Imagine Kucinich vs. West PPV debate. I would pay for that one. BTW, other than building up frequent flyer miles, why would anyone travel 12,000 miles to a place they don't belong, attempt getting shot at to justify and validate being there in the first place? Beats all hell out of me Allen. Wasn't West's 2.5 years in Afghanistan as an employee of a private corporate security firm?

• Did West say Congressman should "be pumped full of lead"? Or did the writer add that? As a Marine Vietnam veteran, I can attest that being under fire, even if you are one of the majority that is not hit, changes your understanding. Robert A. This guy cannot control this compulsion he has to notify everyone of his macho nature. You would think that a United States Congressman could debate the issues on the merits without always acting like some douchebag bully in the sandbox. He has already exposed himself as a pseudo-intellectual. I now have no doubt that he is also a pseudo-tough guy.

Maybe if he doesn't get so much attention, he'll begin to realize that most of us think he is a moron and a disgrace to the country.
