Tuesday Morning Bytes

It just keeps happening to Gov Rick Scott.

He makes a decision from his evil alien gut -- you know, like slashing funding for the developmentally disabled -- and then when masses of bona fide Earth-born human beings rise up to oppose it, he reverses course.

(Rick Scott is human you claim? Have you seen his birth certificate with your own eyes? I didn't think so.)

The governor is clearly failing and even his fellow Republicans in the Tallahassee are starting to throw up their hands. Or maybe they're just getting seasick from the governor's back-and-forth moves. This from today's Palm Beach Post

In recent weeks, Scott sent shockwaves across the state by ordering an immediate cut in funding for the developmentally disabled, only to reverse himself last week. He vowed not to sue to recoup tax money lost to the BP oil spill, only to ease back on that pledge days later. And he sought to repeal a prescription drug database from the beginning of the legislative session until one of his department heads OK'd a contract lest than two weeks ago; then last week he testified before Congress in support of the state's effort without mentioning his previous opposition.

The big issue now: Scott, even as the state is near a financial crisis, is demanding $1.7 billion in tax cuts. This will of course force more steep cuts in education and other areas while it benefits the wealthy in the state. This, he should know, irritates the human beings. Even the rabid GOP Legislature can't seem to stomach that idea and the tax cuts in their budget plans don't come close to Scott's number.

-- Sure I jump on the Republicans but I've jumped harder on local Democrats. Inside see what a Republican blogger wrote about my targeting skills yesterday.
Long-time GOP operative Jack Furnari, a former Sun-Sentinel blogger, recently left the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee to help start the BizPac Review, a conservative website. Here's a bit of what he wrote yesterday after reading my blog post about the ridiculous Kings Point Democratic Club:

Norman is from the 'speak truth to power' school of journalism, and he takes no prisoners. Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, if Norman thinks you're out of line, he will light you up as fast as an Apache attack helicopter lights up an al-Qaida team placing an IED in Afghanistan.

I know. I blaspheme. But I read Norman's blog every day, and I have for years. While I do wince when he goes after a conservative, I do appreciate that he goes after the left with equal enthusiasm.

What a pity that South Florida has so few journalists who follow Norman's example.

Glad you noticed Jack (and I hope you didn't hurt yourself wincing at that opening blurb on Scott).

--  Buddy Nevins reports that Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter is about to undergo a hysterectomy operation and will miss some county meetings. The Pulp wishes her a successful hospital stay and swift recovery.

-- And another blog, Florida Clarion, posits the Tea Party's ultimate fantasy: A Trump-West presidential ticket! Don't laugh too hard -- West hasn't ruled it out, according to the Daily Caller

"Who knows what's going to happen," West reportedly said. "If the people think that I have an ability to continue my service of my country in a different capacity, first of all we gotta talk to God, we gotta talk to my family, we gotta talk to the constituents."

Ok speaking of Herbie reminded me of Bobs question whats our opinion on "The Donald"......First his outragious statement of Barack being the worst President ever is absolutely ridiculous and gives you an impression this guy is not only clueless but also a little wacko... . His arrogant Archie Bunker attitude would have the world nuked within 6 months as President....The only thing I would agree on is being reimbursed from rich countrys America has protected for many years!!!IMHO

Dr(mesohornee)Augusta LOL ... is starting to see the light.. ignorance no inexperience yes and possibly a few of his advisors researchers lawyers etc are helping him make some excellent and also bad decisions which he has corrected immediately.....Much like the Miami Heat Mr Spoelstra who struggled to find the team chemistry, that is now at there peak for the Playoffs The Domeinator will prevail...Mr Scott has made a wise decision to sell his company(possibly at a loss) Hoorah Rick Scott!!!

I am wondering if Scott's "flip flopping" has less to do with evil intents and more to do with ignorance. His inner circle of advisors is not doing a very good job on either informing him of the issues or neglecting to advise him of the possible repurcussions of his decisions. We want folks in office who are not career politicians, but then the price we have to pay is their scant knowledge of the issues, and then subsequent ignorance on understanding cause and effect. All of this results in an ineffective leadership. Of course, the reality is, he might just indeed be myopic and using the position to advance his own peronal goals...whatever they might be.

Your ideas are very interesting and perhaps applicable to electeds on the national scene, as well. In Florida, it's hard to get away from the thought that Scott is less myopic than quite rigorously focused on "personal goals," which seem to consist of asset protection and enhancement. This perception, augmented by other unattractive elements of the governor's physical appearance and well-known background, may be encouraging not only political opponents but also people who unaccountably voted for the man to be vocal enough with their disapproval to induce "flip flopping." So maybe there's a both/and thing going on here: "evil intents" can plausibly be seen behind certain original executive decisions, but the reaction to popular outrage might also be taken as evidence that "the system is working."

Although Pulp's political leanings are evident in his writings, It really is a good sign that both sides respect / fear him. He does not allow his idealogy get in the way of his reporting.

Nobody has reported more about the corrupt local D machine than Pulp.

To Irving Feiner,

That really is scary stuff. Explains the Women in Distress donations... Kinda like a pedophile who donates to kids charities.

Crook Scott doesn't know how to be a Governor...He brought himself the job and now he doesn't know what to do. He didn't want to take the money from BP because he's on their side. He changed his mind because the people would have wanted to cut off his blue head if they weren't compensated for the oil damage( and the oil is still doing damage. It doesn't go away overnight!)Let''s get to work? He's working for Big business and their interests and he's being controlled by them, not the people of the state.Trump has been on the Hot Seat all day on the news. It's coming out more and more he's not Presidential material. He won't run. I said this yesterday, he wants to know about(it's already been proven) where Obama was born. I want to know about his hairline. He's an egotistical opportunist and starting to get very mean. Too much will be revealed about his business and you'll see he'll back off. I do wilsh Stacy Ritter a speedy recovery so she can face her alledged criminal charges healthy.

of Rick Scott. What we need is more dirt on Chaz. What about an interview Pulp with this blogger from Deerfield Beach who appears to have gotten under Chaz's skin.

My God - that stuff makes your skin crawl - and then feel sorry for that poor gal. Unbelievable, our friend makes his poisonous, not really that veiled email threats, and attorney Tom Wright embodies the result of our friend's intimidation in a follow-up letter. What a tag-team - worse than Karl von Hess and Ludwig von Krupp.

Over a couple of TV's? Two average people splitting the sheets with no kids or joint property spinning that out of control. Unbelievable.

Suddenly, Chaz isnt just pathetically funny anymore. He's scary. Important info, oberoncody. Thanks for posting. Did attorney Tom Wright ever file suit for Chaz after all those threats? I bet that would be interesting reading.

Hey, Chaz ol buddy! Everyone here knows all about you now. So switching names because yours is equated to Scooter poop, is not gonna save you from the embarrassment that you have caused on yourself. I do have a question, did you get a boner from that??? I said your name!!!! Guess what else, after this post...you will be but a distant memory in District 2...We have decided as a people to move on and forward without you..Au revoir Chaz, vous deviendrez plus qu'un souvenir!

Cody says in his blog who he is and talks about his relationship to Sylvia Poitier, nothing hidden there. Lets face it for all Chaz's bluster about fighting corruption , he is a pure sleezeball.

I hope Gov.Scott's legal team has plenty of money in their chest so to speak because its going to be one lawsuit after another. From is newly inacted "jim crow laws" to his manadtory drug testing for welfare receipts to state workers etc. Get ready Gov. its coming($$$). He can mandate all these new laws but I hate to break it to him that the citizens of this state are not going to sit here like lame ducks just to appease him. Oh he's gonna learn fast.

Hey, I would do that too, but I am unable to keep up with half the certifiable crapola that the tea party nutjob Repooplicants are flinging everywhere all the time like you know what out of the back end of a manure spreader in high gear. Geez Loueeez, I just can't even begin to keep up with that perfidiously insidious wild eyed woolly mastodon manure, much less get enough ahead to even start with the much less lame donkey dung Demonrats.

I never paid attention to him - one way or the other. But then my SO started watching that celebrity apprentice.

So, based solely on celebrity apprentice, I find him to be a pretty decent guy. Who would have thought there would be a rich guy running for president with a worse haircut than Ross Perot?

absolutely nuttin, everything, respectively; that arrogant creep turns my stomach, at least miss-hell bachman, sorry impalin, and those other lunatic teabitches are tolerable to look at -- with the volume off -- but trump rhymes with dump, which it appears a cross between a porcupine and a chinchilla took on his fat ugly head..

I love these tough talking conservative states-righters. Like Texas Governor Perry, who rallied the rubes with talk about Texas leaving the union. But what did I see in the paper today. That same Gov. Perry begging the Federal government to send money to Texas to help take care of a natural disaster. Self-sufficiency, it seems, is always for the other guy.

The state is in full economic panic mode. everyone knows what must be done. but as soon as you try to cut anything the proverbial shit hits the fan.You all act like spoiled children. Pain is comming so prepare yourselves.

Bob; Fuck the mentally disabled. Tell them they are going on vacation and dump them in the everglades or a Cowboy Ronnie B ranch. He could be the ring leader of the nutjobs.

Pulp has to go after someone such as Rick Scott and make him a bogeyman. Not doing so would jeopardize his employment with the New Times. I suspect deep down, Pulp knows that he and Rick Scott have many of the same goals in mind.

Another liberal line the wealthy its always about money with you libs. By taking money from wealthy people you do not put 1 single dime in anyone else s pocket.

. its the same ole lies and character assassination you have no answers at all just character assassination. The Governor made a decision period he found it to be wrong he changed it whats the big deal about that.

Oh I see you would not do that great. that's why you do not risk ridicule by running for office. An fix the insanity that we have called government. Your heroes are all in jail or under investigation look around liberal ideas are a failure.

Look at Detroit,or any other city the democrats have run for 10 or more years. Facts don't lie no matter how many times you attempt to assassinate there character.

Stick to the school board at that you were doing a really good job that everyone applauded including me. Do not go down the way of so many failed journalists stick with fact finding

This post should have a caution sign, 'DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!!!'

Municipal elections are non partisan.

Corruption is non partisan, it is found where opportunism meets greed.

It is insanity to continue the Bush tax cuts, thereby contributing trillions to the deficit.

Buy a spell check program for your computer.

Now go away.

To Allen West:I just talked to and listened to God (at least as well as Allen West or anybody else in the history of the earth has) and God said -

"Allen West's service to the US shall end after the 2012 elections. And, sorry I let him slip into Congress in 2010. I was contemplating who should score touchdowns during week 13 of the 2018 NFL season, and the West thing snuck through."
