Rick Scott: Forget the Oil Spill -- Let's Go Fishing!

Florida Governor's Office
Slick Rick catches his own BP Special.
On the first anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon disaster that spilled 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, Gov. Rick Scott celebrated by going fishing.

Sounds strange, but Slick Rick didn't have much choice. He favors offshore drilling. He's refusing to sue the owner of the Deepwater Horizon rig. And he believes the experts who say Gulf fish are oil-free and safe to eat. Sure, scientists still have questions about the long-term effects of the oil on the ocean floor and the chemical dispersants used after the spill. And yes, even some seafood purveyors admit they've stopped selling Gulf shrimp, because they've seen the oil at the bottom of the ocean.

"The product that lives in that water can't be any good," Frank Patti, owner of Joe Patti's Seafood in Pensacola, told the Palm Beach Post. "I don't want it in the building. Everyone says it's fine. But they're crazy as hell. It's not fine."

But Scott says eat up! He went fishing with his Cabinet members in Panama City yesterday and tucked into the seafood at a local restaurant. Mmm, mmm. Hope it went down smooth.

I'm not "screwing" with anyone. You can check the record, Pepper is in favor of importing oil from our Muslim enemies instead of using our own which would be cheaper. He has called Saddam an "innocent" and thinks he had nothing to do with the Muslim world. He doesn't even know to spell. He doesn't even think we should take the oil from the countries we've conquered. He'd rather sit in a recession and listen to the blank radio station that used to broadcast NPR before conservatives cut funding. It's sad liberals like you whom are ruining this great country.

Actually I am in favor of getting away from using oil all together. And not all muslims are our "enemies". I know quite a few that are much better citizens than you are. As for Saddam, he is innocent of having anything to do with 9/11. Was he a bastard? Yes. But then again, typing this to you is as useful as speaking with a lunatic in a straight jacket.Only it would be more entertaining to speak with that lunatic than you. He would have something useful to say back other than spouting really lame conspiracy theory with absolutely no facts to back them up.

I hope so. Would hate to think someone is that obtuse out there.

By the way Pepper, I think you meant "you're" and not "your." Guess that's YOUR great liberal education showing their.

You are the one that keeps spouting conspiracy theories that are easily disproven by ANY basic search of the net.Negative consequences? How about the pollution, environmental disaster, and cancer just off the top of my head.Do you even read what you type? Cause you keep digging that hole deeper and deeper. The Valdez is a perfect example of what can go wrong with domestic drilling. Not to mention there are other spills you do not hear as much about. Did you know that there is STILL oil seeping out from the Gulf? The only reason that we had a spill in the Gulf in the first place was BECAUSE they stopped regulating the oil industry. Before you start smashing someones education, which has very conservative by the way, you really need to worry about your own.

More conspiracies from the environmentalunatics. Fine, don't even count Exxon then. But name one single negative consequence from drill and using our own oil instead of more oil from terrorist allies like Iran? Just one.

Why can't you people ever leave Rick Scott alone? So the guy went fishing with his buddies, so sue him. Why don't you have a picture of every other guy in Florida who went fishing yesterday too? He's just a regular guy like everyone else and he needs to unwind. A regular guy likes to drink beer and eat fish, shocking!!! And leave him alone about the BP thing too! Rick Scott didn't spill that oil. As Eric pointed out, most of the oil out there isn't even from BP so it's not Rick Scott's fault. Maybe if BP didn't have all those environmentalists all over them all the time and the government regulators wanting to inspect everything all the time they would have been under less stress and the spill wouldn't have even happened. And who cares if he "favors off shore drilling" as the article states? Using our own natural resources is a win-win for everyone. Importing oil has serious risks. Anyone remember Exxon Valdez?

Exxon Valdez was carrying ALASKAN OIL! Damn your giving right wingers and even worse name than they do on their own.I am starting to miss the ones who had more than two brain cells to rub together.

My buddy ran into a tar ball over at John Lloyd Beach just a few weeks ago. That oil is still there and this just goes to show just what a criminal Scott is by letting his buddies off the hook for this spill.

Unfortunately, tar balls aren't that uncommon here. But officials say they're not from the oil spill, they're from cargo ships that dump waste illegally before coming into Port Everglades. Not that this news should make you feel any better.
