Congressman Allen West Not Getting Any Less Crazy

Allen West is on a roll of sheer crazy right now.

First the Plantation congressman has been on Fox News the past several days lobbing crazy bombs at the president, calling him a "low-level socialist agitator" whose "Marxist demagogic rhetoric" indicates a "Third World dictator-like arrogance."

Does this sound even remotely sane?

That kind of polarizing rhetoric -- which has made West a darling of the Tea Party -- clearly betrays the man's own radicalism. Question: If West is hurling around such loaded epithets, what does that make him?

A simplistic view would say the indication of West's wild words is that he is a fascist, the opposite (very generally speaking) of that which he conjures up as his bogeyman. Of course, almost all of his rhetoric leans in that direction.

Whoa, you say, now you're doing it. You can't call Allen West a fascist!

Well, inside, see some recent evidence that that's exactly what West is -- and why the idea of this man gaining any real power is a scary proposition indeed.

(Also: Did Rep. West just tell us to beat our kids?)
In remarks made to a conservative woman's group in Boca Raton six days ago, West indicated how he wanted the United States to look.

West's model was the original fascist state: the militarized city-state of Sparta.

"In ancient days, the most feared, the most vicious warriors known to man were the Spartans," said West. "Never known to retreat, never known to surrender."

He then told the women that in the militarized city-state of Sparta, it was the women who made the men strong.

"Because the Spartan women at the age of 9 gave up their male sons, and their male sons went into a training that was called the Agoge and they stayed in that training for the next 11 to 12 years," he said. "And when they finally qualified, when they were finally ready to join the ranks of the Spartan army, it was not their father who gave them their cloak and their shield. It was their mother who gave them their shield. And when the Spartan mother gave that young Spartan warrior his shield, she gave him this basic commandment: 'Spartan, here is your shield. Come back wearing this shield or being borne upon it.'"

Be more like Sparta, eh, Mr. West?

Do you know who else praised Sparta and told his people to be more like them?

Yes, of course it was Adolf Hitler, who likened his Nazi soldiers to Spartans and the Russians as the Helots. But then, what warmonger wouldn't look to the Spartans as a shining example of what a society should look like?

Hitler also admired the Spartans' "racial superiority" and another practice of strong Spartan women -- the systematic murder of its weak and deformed children. Here's something Hitler once wrote about Sparta:

Sparta must be regarded as the first Völkisch State. The exposure of the sick, weak, deformed children, in short, their destruction, was more decent and in truth a thousand times more humane than the wretched insanity of our day which preserves the most pathological subject, and indeed at any price, and yet takes the life of a hundred thousand healthy children in consequence of birth control or through abortions, in order subsequently to breed a race of degenerates burdened with illnesses.

Of course, West has never supported that practice, but his ideas of a military state are frightening enough -- and the radical roads that West careens on have very slippery slopes.

-- West also praised another parental model during that same speech: the use of physical abuse.

"Once upon a time back in the old-school way of the women of the church, when you're a little tyke, you really fear," he said. "It was old mothers who would get together and say, 'Boy you better act right or else I'm going to get that switch and I'm going to tell you're mom and she's going to get that belt.' But it was that type of discipline that enabled us to raise men of character, men of courage, men of honor, men of integrity."

Hey, this is Florida, land of the misinformed

Here we go again. Another rant by a liberal. Whether we agree or disagree about the comments made by West, the fact is, he responded to the inappropriate actions of Schultz. What you fail to admit are the demeaning, vile, hateful, rhetoric and actions that has come from liberals. What about the printing of West and his wife's social security number for all to see. What about Schultz's protest in front of his campaign office acting like an idiot. What about the liberals who take pot shots at conservative women. Where is your concern about these actions? If you want to criticize, that is fine. But, I would suggest that you look beyond your nose when you do the criticizing.

West speaks the unvarnished truth.  That always makes the libs crazy.  I have never heard the man lie.  Could he tone down the truth to make it more acceptable?  I think those days are gone.  We're living in times that are far too out of control for quiet voices anymore.

Glad that we finally have someone in congress that has enough courage to speak the truth.Allen West is long overdue in congress!

Please. Sparta was no more "fascist" than Athens was a "democracy". Spartan women, were equals: they culd inherit and transfer property, unlike their Athenian sisters who WERE property.

Spartan women could inherit and so transfer wealth. Athenian women, by contrast, were never heiresses; all property passed to the next male kinsman, who might at most be required to marry the heiress in order to claim the inheritance – an arrangement that often led men to discard their previous wife, although she was blameless, just to get their hands on the inheritance of a kinsman. Economic power has always had the concomitant effect of increasing status. This is clearly evidenced by contemporary descriptions of Spartan women. They were "notorious" for having opinions ("even on political matters"!) and – what was clearly worse from the perspective of other Greek men – "their husbands listened to them"! Aristotle claimed that Spartan men were "ruled by their wives" – and cited the freedom of Spartan women as one of two reasons why the Spartan constitution was reprehensible. I am very glad that Allen West is my representative, and not the skank Schultz or Buckwheat Hastings. All you libs, remeber who said this?: "Elections have consequences. We won." I suggest you bite down on it for the next few years. Either that or GTF out of Florida, as you watch the state turn bright, bright RED!

He is working hard it dis-incentivize achievement and punish success under the guise of redistribution of wealth. He continually stokes the fires of class envy. This is absolutely socialist agitation. Why don't you investigate Obama's spiritual relationship with Karl Marx or Saul Alinsky with the same energy you attack West.

It's bad enough when your type listend to Fox and the RNC, but when you have to lemming like quote the crap that flows from the, that is sad.

Class envy - How about the fact that less than 5% of the people have over 95% of the money. That has grown since Reagan, the failed actor, first came up with his obscene trickle down theory. As to a spiritual relationship with a frigging aetheist like Marx. You mix your metaphors my dear.

What total right wing drivel.

The only possible explanation for being anti-Obama is insanity (racist doesn't work in this situation or that would have probably been thrown in too).

SmDrPepper, you have obviously not done any kind of research yourself. You accuse people of listening to "mouthpieces," but you clearly know NO facts, yourself. Whoever wrote this article is a moron. You are a moron. You sound like an idiot who believes whatever comes from Chris Matthews' mouth. The facts are out there. Stop being a pathetic "American." Be a good one, like Mr. West.

The better question is, how sane were the folks that voted him in? After all, he did win the election...

Until West starts putting a gun (literally) to the heads of his left and centrist constituents, and colleagues, West cannot by definition be declared to be as crazy now as he was back in his war criminal days.

Instead of all this back-and-forth name calling, why not have Mr. West explain exactly what he meant when he used the terms "low-level socialist agitator," "Marxist demagogic rhetoric" and "Third World dictator-like arrogance?" All of these buzz words and phrases do nothing to advance the dialog among rational people who have honest differences of opinion on pressing issues of the day; all these words and phrases do is incite like-minded people. Frankly, the kind of rhetoric used by Mr. West reminds me most of politicians who, having very little of substance to say, use flowery language to draw attention to themselves. I say we look to the record: what meaningful legislation has Mr. West sponsored? which members of congress have signed on to co-sponsor his legislation? what has Mr. West done to improve the US economy? Does he believe in the failed policies of trickle-down economics? does he support US military intervention in Libya? if so, whose ox will he gore to pay for it? why would he support the Bush-era tax cuts, since they did nothing to stimulate the US economy? how much is he willing to cut from the defense budget? is he in favor of cutting the EPA, the OHSA, the Department of Education? on whose backs will he attempt to balance the budget - the aged, the young, the inform, the voiceless? Those are the people most in need of protection. Is Mr. West doing anything to protect them? No matter what you may think of President Obama and his policies, simply saying no to everything, as Mr. West, his darling Tea Party, and the right-wing of the Republican Party do, is not an effective way to govern or to help this country out of the economic mess that eight years of George Bush got us into. The Republicans are fond of comparing deficits and other economic indicators from the pre-Bush years to the current time; what they haven't done, and won't, is show us a timeline of those indicators that include the Bush-years, because doing so would highlight the incorectness of their position and their hypocrisy. For example, the Bush-years, 2000-2008, saw our National Debt increase from approximately $5.8 trillion to nearly $12 trillion, and the federal deficit rise from approximately $133 billion to nearly $1.8 TRILLION. The Obama Administration inherited not a healthy economy, but one in shambles; not a nation at peace, but one embroiled in two wars. And now, we have Washington in virtual gridlock, with the House controlled by one party, and the Senate and White House by the other. For G-d's sake, people, give the President a chance. Do any of you actually think that two years, or even four, is enough to right the ship after eight years of disastrous policies?

Bob Norman and the insane left are terrified. Their glorious President is a complete and utter failure. Their hatred of Allen West is the worst kind of demagoguery. It reveals one simple fact: the left is losing...and losing big time. In their panic, all they can think to do is attack with the most vile, vicious garbage.

Oh, and Bob...you should know that the first person to resort to calling the other side "Nazi-like" has just lost the debate. You lose, Bob.

Didn't call him Nazi-like, just pointed out that Hitler loved him some warmongering Spartans too.

And as for blue-collar -- what are the blue collar folks going to do when they get their public education and health care taken away altogether? Oh right -- join the army to fight the perpetual wars he wants to engage in with our "vicious and vile" enemies overseas who happen to have all the oil under their feet. What a bleak and backward world some people want to live in.

I think the only ones that are "running scared" are the tea baggers. Seems like your membership is dropping and more are viewing you with complete disdain. Unlike you people who think that anyone with a differing opinion is anti american, we kinda look at you guys as, well, just hilarious. It is amusing watching you guys come up with numbers with no facts, or just ignoring the facts hoping no one will notice the wholesale lies. An just generally ignoring what the people really want. President Obama could be doing more. But he has been ham stringed all around. Gotta love how one day you say he isnt doing enough, an the next that its too much. Case in point, Libya. So continue on in your delusions. The more you say, the more of a hole you put yourselves in.

How f'n stupid can you be. Of course the lawyers are all over it.

The 1-800-411-PAIN Referral service is a network of chiropractors and lawyers that solicits clients who have been injured in car accidents. In October, a class-action lawsuit was filed against the Broward-based company, alleging that it has misled customers into using its services. According to the suit, the company uses commercials and other marketing tools to recruit clients, then funnels their $10,000 in car-insurance benefits to doctors and personal injury lawyers in the network.

Do you understand that rather than engaging in constructive dialogue, you belittle those that either disagree with you or have a different understanding of the issues? You did in fact arrogantly correct another poster for wishing a "happy easter", bloviating on how easter is not a happy holiday and how the poster was such a moron for making that statement. Not sure if everyone piled on and told you what a misinformed, misanthropic, ill-informed douchebag you were, or if you were gently corrected as to the joyous nature of the resurrection and the appropriate nature of the "happy easter" sentiment, but I'm sure had the tables been turned your correction would have been none to gentle.

You have the arrogant tone of one who is educated but unwise. You know just enough to dazzle yourself with syntax and vocabulary, and find the ignorance of "the masses" to be exasperating! Why can't everyone see what you see? It's so damn obvious! It's because they are infantile sheep, blind retards, uneducated buffoons fooled by silver tongue demagogues! Not even close to the intelligent, rational, knows-all, sees-all, well spoken man that you yourself are....but of course, you're also not an elitist. You are "for the people", it's just that the people don't know what is best for them. They need enlightened philosopher kings such as yourself to show them the light...but definitely, it's the repugnantcins who are the elitists.

I'm impressed that you found one factual error that I made amongst hundreds of posts. Until I make more errors, I am absolutely entitled to refer to teabbaggers as unedcuated douchebags, because that is an accurate description. I do not disparage everyone I disagree with, only those who spew complete nonsense. I absolutely deserved to be called a douchebag for my Easter error.

Now, if you think you can rationalize with these teabats, best of luck to you. I find my method much more effective.

You do not rationalize with people who are so misinformed and ignorant. That is an exercise in futility.
