Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall is at Broward General this morning after being stabbed in the stomach with a knife last night, according to ESPN. Marshall was taken to the hospital late Friday night after a 911 call and underwent surgery this morning. He reportedly wanted to go home, but doctors are keeping him at the hospital to guard against infection.

"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family, thankfully he will make a full recovery," Marshall's agents, Kennard McGuire and Harvey Steinberg, said in a statement. "We simply ask that his privacy is respected."

Marshall's wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $7,500 and she remains in jail this morning.

ESPN is reporting that: "No vital organs were pierced in the incident, and doctors have told him that Marshall will be OK in two to three weeks."

Marshall was married last summer after the trade. The two had been college sweethearts at University of Central Florida. On March 1, 2009, Marshall was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct after the two were allegedly fighting, but the charges were dropped the next day.

Four years ago, as a rookie with the Broncos, Marshall was involved in an incident at a Denver nightclub that eventually led to the murder of teammate Darrent Williams.

This ESPN Outside The Lines report from two years ago details Marshall's tumultuous past, one that includes more than two dozen run-ins with police in the last half decade alone. He has been arrested in the past for disorderly conduct, drunken driving, and a number of incidents of alleged domestic violence.

Marshall's best friend and former college teammate, Jaguars receiver Mike Sims-Walker, said on his Twitter account, "Brandon will be ok and is in good spirits preciate the prayers and concerns!"

We will update as more information is available.
