Allen West: Screw You, Fellow Republicans!

Talk about gratitude! The Legislature spends three sleepless weeks bashing out a budget deal, figures out a way to slash $39 billion from the federal budget, and Allen West says it's not enough?

That's the news, according to The Hill, which reported on Saturday that Allen West would vote "nay" on the new budget.

But will he?

Also on Saturday, West appeared on Fox and was asked about the budget deal. On that occasion, West said:

We've changed the political culture here in Washington, D.C.,... so I think the era of big spending in Washington, D.C., is over. But, you know, this is not the time to dance in the end zone. Thirty-nine billion dollars, you know, everyone's saying that's the highest-ever spending cut, but when you put it in the context of a one-point-four-two trillion-dollar annual deficit or the one-point-six-five trillion-dollar annual deficit we're heading to right now -- it's kind of like an aircraft carrier. It takes five miles to turn it around, but at least we're starting that motion.

Except, if he's planning to vote against "starting that motion," he probably shouldn't say "at least"; he should say "we're barely starting that motion" or "this is an insufficient start to that motion" or something similar. Right?

Oh, well. Give the guy a break. It's been a confusing week, one in which West slammed GOP legislators for using military paychecks as rhetorical hostages in an effort to pass a budget before a government shutdown. "The House Majority has now placed the funding for the Department of Defense and the funding for the troops down as a bargaining chip," said West on April 8, according to Talking Points Memo. "In the past 100 days, the House Majority could have passed at any point in time a separate stand-alone Appropriations for the Department of Defense and the funding for our men and women."

Agreed! Except -- hey, Colonel, aren't you part of the House Majority?

It's about time someone stood up against the RINOs. We need to get all the Dempublicans out of our government. They have become all iron clad oligarchy and America is going to hell in a hand basket.

I heard the man speak once. He was clear direct, never stumbled for words. He rminded me of a Military spokesman who answered questions for the world media in Iraq. Now that man gave information and was never fkustered by the hostile questions.I wish that I knew who he was too.

Pathetic bias on the part of this phony journalist. The COL is totally correct. This deal is a Pelosi style deception. Rep. West didn't use the language the New Times' dishonest title implies, but I will gladly. Boehner and Cantor, SCREW YOU. You lying, gutless phonies. The freshmen class must drive these incompetent crooks out of the GOP leadership or the Republican Party will self-destruct.

Someone please read this to Baby Thorp, regarding his dog-with-a-bone act in taking on, Congressman Allen West.

Dear Thorpy.

Presumably, your original motivation for embarking on the suicidal course of nipping around the heels of Allen West, was to make a name for yourself as a journalistic David out to slay the terrible giant, Goliath.

Just a word of caution my friend, you are not even a faint shadow of that Biblical hero. Your cowardly stone-chucking at this giant, from behind the supposed safety barrier of the 'fourth estate', will inevitably lead to overconfidence on your part. You will mistake his silence as your having notched an incremental victory in your one-sided skirmish. However, when your mestacized ego finally pushes you beyond the outer perimeter line of his defenses, it will be too late. You will never know what hit you.

I'm certain that in your naivite' as a devotee of Obama (mm-mm-mm) mania, you feel safe and blissfully invulnerable to the messages on caution signs put up by older, wiser, more experienced generations. Fail to take note of these signs at your own risk.

So, enjoy your brief moment in the Sun, Thorpy. For, when you do cross that line, your darkness will be deep and never ending. And Thorpy, please don't flatter yourself that you have received a threat of any sort. You are not that important in the scheme of things. Let's be factual shall we? You have received a calculated prediction.

I do so hope that someone reads this to you.

West is not taken seriously in the Republican Party, or in the country; only the Tea-partyers routinely applaud him. He is such a minority position, that most of what he says is designed for the sole purpose of garnering him publicity. I predict that he will be a one-term legislator and then just fade away!

Hey Douchebaggers, from the Douchebag Party:

Have you mongoloids looked at Paul Ryan's bill? He proposes reducing the top tax rate for millionaires even more, from 35% to 25%. This will result in 4 trillion dollars in lost revenue over the next 10 years.

Have any of you mouthbreathers ever had an accounting class?

Unless we increase taxes on millionaires and the largest corporations that have gotten away with murder, and decrease our military budget, no amount of domestic and/or entitlement spending cuts will balance the budget.

If half of you would get your head out of a bible, and the other half, out of your ass, you may actually have a political movement with a clue. Until then, you are nothing more than stooges for the elite.

Fools!

Allen West understands the following statement: "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." .

Allen West was the ONLY Republican who called on Eric Cantor and GOP leadership for being complete wankers. And he was right then as he is now!

P.S. Unfortunately, progressives will have to Google the quote.

Wow, Brandon AGREES with Congressman Allen West! Does anyone remember when elected representatives voted their beliefs rather than blindly following party lines? As LTC West states "The first tenant of leadership is courage" Bravo!

The amount supposedly cut in this latest bill is a drop in the ocean. The government spends $10.5 BILLION dollars a day. This cuts about 4 days. Allen West has the courage and principles to stand apart from the GOP establishment. Yes, it is a step in the right direction. At least the conversation has changed from "how much do we spend" to "how much do we cut."

Good job, Col. West. Thank you for standing your ground against RINO Boehner and his ilk. If the EPA, TSA, ATF, NEA, DOE, Title IX, UN, NPR, PBS, and, Obamakare were left standing, then the House didn't do its job. Eliminating GS-9 through GS-14 should have been done as well.West for President!

creepy but hilarious. also, you're not going to get very far comparing an athiest to a biblical figure he doesn't believe in.

Hey Mort:

That sounded like a threat to me, you old fart. Mr. Thorp is merely exercising his first amendment rights, which is allowed under the U.S. Constitution. He has never advocated violence or the overthrow of the U.S. gov't. He merely states his opinion.

Only fascists would ever define that fundamental right as "crossing the line". You do remember what fascism is, right Grandpa? That is what we were fighting against in WW2.

Now, fuck off and go break a hip.......DumbKuff!

You want to fix the economy? Cut corporate taxes in half and suspend, yes suspend capital gains for two years. Until that happens job growth will NOT accelerate at all!

George Payne

He also eliminates any loopholes in the current corporate tax code. I say dump the personal income tax, keep the corporate income tax and institute a national 7% sales tax. Then everyone bear the burden if you can afford to buy a 100,000 car you pay an additional 7% tax on it, sounds fair to me. Of course some while whine about this as well.

Diogenes6670

Are you suggesting that West is supportive of an overthrow of the government? The quote is, of course, from our Declaration of Independence; but what it has to do with anything in today's environment escapes me, other than to show that you are familiar with our history. Tell us, where exactly would you and West cut deeper into the budget; not with generalities, but EXACTLY WHICH LINE ITEMS. Look, until you're ready to raise taxes on the rich, like it was in the '50's, and until you're prepared to tackle the mockery of a tax system that allows corporations with a $14 billion profit to pay NO TAXES, no one is going to take you very seriously. Rick Scott wants to fix out budget in Florida -- let him propose an income tax instead of taking away from the most vulnerable amongst us: the poor, the young, the sickly.

Liberal Wankers are always so adament about "tolerance" & "being fair", until it comes to someone having a different opinion than yours. Don't be such a Hater!!! Have some respect for people & not attack...going straight for the jugular......you just prove how mean Liberals can be.

nanook5

why lie so blatantly? nothing in the budget will prevent the country's largest corporations from paying virtually no taxes. "loopholes in the current corporate tax code" is at best, a red herring.

Hey Douche: He threatened a writer for exercising his amendment rights. If you could comprehend what you read, you would have picked up on that.
