• What you're not getting, Gatorfl, is that big business interests fund political campaigns, and in doing so they get laws that protect them from personal liability. The purpose of being a corporate entity is for liability issues, but the result of enhancing corporate protections is that a guy like Rick Scott was eligible to run for public office. Therefore, individual human beings break the law, but only the corporate entity gets charged. In order to avoid further investigations and prosecutions of actual human beings, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) fired Rick Scott, gave him a huge parachute of a payout, and agreed with the federal government to pay the largest criminal- and I repeat, CRIMINAL- fine in United States history, of one billion seven hundred million dollars. That means that no other company had ever paid so large a CRIMINAL fine in US history, and they did so in order to avoid the prosecution of actual human individuals involved in perpetrating that crime. And then he takes those tens of millions of dollars- over seventy million of it- and campaigns for governor, and he wins by 68,000 votes out of over five million votes cast. What a country!

He selected a brand new firm -- with no prior experience in jail health care -- to take over BSO's multi-million dollar inmate health care contract after Jenne's lobbyist pal Billy Rubin was hired to represent the firm. • The rant is in the title to this rant. Scumbag lawyers that run ads on television all day trying to convince America that there has to be a reason that someone somewhere owes them money. These ads run day and night. We have all seen them and most people I talk to about it say they hate these commercials as much as I do. “Do you have Mesothelioma? Call this number so we can collect vast sums of money and give you what amounts to a tiny fraction of the settlement and we keep the rest.” One of my favorites is “Have you or a loved one taken (Insert drug name here) and had a stroke or have died? Call this number . . . ” This commercial actually runs all day long, and they are asking the question exactly as I have written it here. Its downright embarrassing. These simpletons have taken ambulance chasing to an entirely new level. I have an idea. Lets run commercials that say “Have you been duped into calling a scumbag lawyer while watching television at 3 am? Did this lawyer convince you that you stood to gain millions for a hang nail and you only got a twenty dollar bill and the lawyer kept your millions? Call 1 800 DEPORT LAWYERS NOW!”

I have never read so much corrupt behavior going on and the numerous hard working /honests deputies I have spoken with are embarassed about their Sheriff. Several criminal investigations have been opened up by the Broward State Attorney's Office, FDLE, and the FBI that should provide the insight and the indictments needed to remove the Sheriff and his administration.

But he has no LEO career ahead of him because he still cannot win, place or show in a sergeant's test and his friendships with rich corrupt farmers will not carry over to whatever future administration. No tears shed here. If these fools learn anything, I hope it is that telling the truth up front counts for a lot, that you can't fool people forever, and when you have the opportunity to right a wrong done by your big-mouthed friend, you should do what you said you would do. Too bad that they awoke some sleeping giants who knew more than they do.

• Frey is toast, make no mistake about it; and no he isn't leaving as a planned retirement. He is on the run. He had a big blow out with Lamberti and refused to back down to the corrupt dictates of AL. Frey's pal Snakenberg made a deal with the SAO to turn witness to save himself (it won't completely-his career is over). Documents and e-mails were brought forward that show that Snakenberg kept Frey informed of the credentials, etc. Fondo has also jumped on board as a witness. Frey supports both of them and knows that he informed AL, but AL ordered him to leave if he would not help him continue to lie and cover up the truth. Now there is a pattern of security misconduct and fraud involving 2 and possibly 3 ball games. More coming. AL knows he will never complete his current term-he is done. More coming. Snakenberg and Fondo want to claim "whistle Blower." That will not fly. They didn't expose the information-the media and others did. Further, the documents they are coming up with have already for months been requested as "Public Information" and therefore are products of inevitable discovery, offering no protection. AL will eventually name his clone, Cavallo to the Colonel's position and the beat will go on, but this Sheriff and this administration are basically done in for sure. No Republican can survive this and the party has about had enough of this loser and his lies and corruption. For the few doubters left, get a grip-it's over.

• I adore her. From time to time, our viewpoints have differed on some issues, but she usually does represent my viewpoint. And she listens to her constituents, truly represents them. I agree with Winsome Lad -- she is a tireless worker, sharp as a whip, ethically sound. From breast cancer to other issues - she truly takes the lemons and turns them into lemonade, and not for herself, but for her constituents. I admire her greatly.

• DWS is an admirable member of Congress and represents her district well. What does not come across in the media is how hard she can work. I have seen her with that curly, thick hair glued to her face with sweat, as she campaigned . . . for somebody other than herself. She hit the ground running when she was elected and, in spite of very serious health problems, does not appear to have slowed down.
