Recall Rick Scott Protest Hits Downtown

Anti-Rick Scott protester at federal courthouse in downtown Fort Lauderdale yesterday. Activist Tammy Lettieri estimates that 1,300 people showed up for the rally.
Here are some questions I hope to answer in the next several days:

-- Who is the Broward County School Board member who, prior to his or her election, was accused of making a racial slur at work? Specifically the member was talking about attending an Orange Bowl game in the upper deck, where people were loud, drunk, and belligerent. "It was nigger heaven," the future board member said as coworkers, some of them black, looked on in disbelief. When asked by a coworker if she really meant to say that, the board member repeated it.

-- Who is the well-known Broward politician who secretly had a child with his (possibly underaged) babysitter many years ago?

-- Who is the big political player who has made a name for a charitable pursuit that is actually profiting his or her clients in a big way with tax dollars?

Does anyone know of a protest in West Palm Beach? I think Okeechobee and Military would be good on a busy Friday rush hour.

Well, you are the same people who voted for Rick Scott. Some of you lazy bums did not go out to the polls that day (Democrats) and sat back and allowed this to happen. I will not be anywhere to help you guys protest nothing. You reap what you sow. I voted for a Democratic party and notice the polls was empty that day. Everyone went to their slavery jobs and was scared to take time off lunch or whatever you had available to vote that day. Then you rush to the polls and reach there too late after 7:00pm. Al Sharpton he came to the Lauderdale Lakes area to give a speech, and he turn around when he went inside to see an empty voting poll station in Lauderdale Lakes. All of you, blacks and whites whimped out and voted Republican with hopes this will help employ you, but now you elected Satan. Cannot you see he looks like Satan, white and pale like a ghost. And your results has given Florida the title of Republican GOPs (Red State) thereby, allowing Rick Scott to win. He should whip all you asses with his cracker stick. Crack your asses for not electing Alex .

Remember the saying "I told you so" he was known to most as a criminal, with the exception to the tea dreamers.

Scott NEEDS to be recalled. Hes still a crook that now is allowed access to everything. He wants to fire all the teachers, make sure the rich and corporations pay no tax at all, and now wants to strip unemployment insurance. Can we please stop electing officials who are such obvious shills for the haves and get some that are worried about the have nots?Trickle down economics has never worked. Time to stop trying it out.

While I can just hope that the answer to question # 3 (that Bob Norman posed) is the one that I am going to submit, it may not be -- but, if not, maybe one day there will be exposure of this particular non-profit. Funny thing about non-profits and not-for-profits is that these entities are NOT supposed to exist merely to generate profits -- hence the identity right in the description. However, it is amazing how a non-profit or not-for-profit can be so helpful in its arrangement for so many on the board of directors or related to the officers. Imagine not paying taxes on any of your investments because you are running a non-profit or not-for-profit. If you don’t pay taxes, there is that much more money in the till that you can pay yourself or the cronies that you place on your board. The taxes you don’t have to pay are not limited to the nonpayment of federal income taxes. If you are supposedly using the group that you have set-up to fill a need for low income housing, you can slide by with a non-payment of ad valorem taxes too. Plus, if you are a lawyer or have a bunch of lawyers on board (that might have elected positions on the county or a city commission), you would know how to benefit in the receiving of grant money. Additionally, if you serve a group that is looked at as “charitable,” you appear to be a better person & your reputation becomes vastly improved from the appearance alone.

Another benefit of being a board member is that you can profit handsomely. Ken Keechl’s sweetheart, Adcock, was able to find a way to profit from his activity. So -- hopefully, the feds have their eye on H.O.M.E.S. That is the non-profit started by the wife of one of the name partners of Ken Keechl’s old law firm, McNerney Brinkley Morgan Solomon & Tatum. That is the same law firm that represented the Mutual Benefits scamster, Joel Steinger (& his 2 brothers, Leslie & Steven), and that had a lawyer by the name of Anthony Livoti. Bob Norman reported on these scamsters in the alternative newsweekly, the Broward Palm Beach New Times and on his blog (which are 2 totally different journals, of which I had to mention, due to the fact that I am still a little miffed that American Greed only recognized Bob Norman for his blog, and NOT the fact that he is a well-respected, working journalist). Anyway, there are real journalists in South Florida. Bob Norman is one of them. There are others on the ball too, who have made reports about some of the persons covered by Bob Norman, like the henchmen of Mutual Benefits – Kenneth E. Keechl, Anthony Martin Livoti, Jr. and Michael Joseph McNerney.

Here is the way that John Pacenti of the Daily Business Review, described (as titled) “Lawyers’ Indictment in Huge Ponzi Scheme Shocks Legal Circles,” on January 26, 2009. “Michael McNerney and Anthony Livoti Jr. are well-respected advocates and have been fixtures in the legal community for decades. McNerney served as chairman of the University of Florida Law Center Board of Trustees and the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce’s downtown council, among many trusted positions. Livoti was a well-known litigator in Broward County courtrooms who earned the respect of a number of judges. He served on boards of directors of such causes as the Art for AIDS Auction and was a nominee for a Florida Bar pro bono award.” In that article, a portrait of the then-recently indicted McNerney was given by Stuart Grossman, a lawyer who had worked with the lawyering McNerney when the 2 were both employed as Florida bar officers. His depiction of fellow-attorney McNerney was that he was the prototypical downtown Fort Lauderdale attorney, who represented Broward beautifully. Circuit Court Judge Geoffrey Cohen, the husband of former school board member/former county commissioner/current Broward County Property Appraiser Lori Parrish, described his relationship to Anthony Livoti in glowing terms, and added that, in Broward County, “many of his colleagues in the judiciary feel the same way about Livoti.” The judge’s description of a lawyer, (with various judgments and orders issued against him out-of-State) sued by the SEC and indicted for mail fraud and money laundering, was gushingly referred to as a very talented, accomplished attorney, and as an extremely ethical and honest man.

I had to throw in that last paragraph to list those other positions that could have been abused. If it is not H.O.M.E.S. that is involved in the charitable pursuit, is it one of those (in the Pacenti article) that is closely associated with McNerney or Livoti?

parkland man -- The art. IV, sec. 1, Fla.Const., Governor of Florida, Rick Scott, may not like some lawyers, but he, himself, is a lawyer. However, in his case, he may not be in violation of Florida’s Constitution (at art. II, sec. 3, Fla.Const., & art. II, sec. 5(a), Fla.Const.,), since he is not an officer of the court in this State (not being licensed by the Florida bar).

For number three, I was going to guess Joe Egelletion (or however you spell it) but I think he tapped a student at the school where he worked, not his babysitter.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the School Board member must have been a white person (aka caucasian), which should at least narrow it down a bit. Sadly, if a black person (or to be politically correct, an African American) had used the term, it would not even come close to qualifying as news given the double standard that society aplies to the "n word." Regardless, I would be very concerned if ANY School Board member said this, though it would pale in comparison to all of the other criminal acts the Board has commited. Looking forward to finding out the name of the guilty party, hopefully with some good confirmation.

he don't like lawyers because he's as corrupt as they come. guess whose job it is to litigate against frauds?... and he'll make plenty of money from the self serving policy he's implementing, believe that. great to know who exactly it was that ate up the heaping load of bullshit that was his campaign. be proud of yourself, dumbass. keep blindly voting within party lines without knowing the facts. thanks for setting the rest of us back 10 years or more.

also, he actually spent $78 million of his own money to get that job.. that doesn't make you even the smallest bit suspicious as to why?

Yea, we need him like we need another fraud CEO. Oh wait! He is a fraud CEO!

why make this comment when it takes literally 2 seconds to google it before making the assertion?

No, you can't. Not in Florida. They CAN be impeached and removed by the State Legislature, however.

they don't say nigger like they don't say gangster, flavor, holler, cheddar, buster, hustler, or player etc. changing the suffix to make a word sound cooler doesn't make it a different word. and even if you want to make that argument, why would you choose to perpetuate it's legacy? if people would stop using the word under that guise, no one would have any argument when attempting to validate it's use. it'd be cut and dry what was intended in saying it.

And, from the pronoun used in your article, I'm assuming female as well? Can't tell if the reference to the Orange Bowl is to the game or the old stadium. Any information on when the statement was made?
