Miami Pill Mill Doctor Busted By FBI

In the second South Florida pill mill bust this week, federal prosecutors charged 57-year-old Dr. Selwyn Carrington, of Miami, with illegally distributing massive amounts of narcotic pills through two different pain clinics. The feds nabbed Carrington on Friday, just one day after local authorities arrested Delray pill peddler, Dr. Barry Schultz.

Investigators found that Carrington never treated or evaluated clients and was rarely even seen at the clinics. The so-called "doctor" collected $5,000 a month to pre-sign blank prescriptions so unlicensed employees could prescribe clients Oxycodone, Percocet and Xanax.

More than 300,000 pills containing controlled substances were dispensed to clients because of Carrington's pre-signed prescriptions. Most were highly addictive Schedule II drugs and Florida Medicaid paid for them all. Carrington ran his primary practice in Pembroke Pines, but ran his pill mills in Hallandale and West Palm Beach.

The two busts came at the end of a week in which a federal bill, "The Pill Mill Crackdown Act of 2011," was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday. It may seem like a good week in the fight against pill mills. But the intense crackdown last month didn't seem to deter Carrington and Schultz. So their arrests may just be a bucket of sand on the brush fire raging through Florida.

Now as a definite insider.... let me tell you the truth!! Selwyn Carrington may have helped some of his people, but he looked down on many him and his nasty money grubbing wife. I am telling you that he dispense medicine to many individuals I know, he would only see them personally maybe once a year and then he did nothing but sit them in the hallway at the end near the restrooms and write a little something in his records. His negligence and neglect nearly killed my spouse. Gina is goon in waiting was no better. He would will my parents in his office an not even look at their bottoms as they were wheelchair bound. Charm to me not only did he favor a hedehodge, but he possessed the personality of one.

He treated the Medicaid patients horribly. Some of his private insurance pays would come in and he would spend over an hour with them and then the elderly Medicare and Medicaid patients would come in and he could barely spend 10 minutes and Gina was his his side kick. They would play games with the appointments of the Medicare and Medicaid patients too. The receptionist is also the worst!!! Horrible attitude. I found my parents some excellent physicians as they have worked since they were 14 years old and my daddy even longer independent, never taking hand-me -downs and they deserved better treatment and they referred over 50 individuals to Carrington, from chruch, work, school and other friends private pay, private insurance and Medicaid/Medicare and he was ungrateful, arrogant and now I know unethical.

And that wife, huh she was a nasty, arrogant and rude, my father spoke to her an paid her a compliment and she turned up her nose and said "okayYYYYYYY!!! She did not even speak to my mother or give her a good morning or my father or half of the people that came into the office. Let's see how this turns out for him.

Mistreating the very people would help build his practice and acquire his wealth.

DR. CARRINGTON is ONE of the BEST, I have long been with him in treatment in his care. He is Witty, LoVING and very Sincere in HEART. I am so taken in shock of learning to which is happening @ this time. I have very high hopes to which this will be sorted out and a good out come will be retunred again in his favor. Not sure how this case may turn out for DR.CARRINGTON, but what I am sure about his Work, Care, and Concern's are REAL to His work of ALL to whom he treats as an HONEST LOVING Doctor. I have known DR.CARRINGTON to be understanding and giving personally his BEST to be opened to concerns @ hand and offering his best views to resolve these concerns too!! He gives and leaves you happy with a smile @ the end of every visit and has been up front at every turn of the way. SO if anyone who doesn't know DR.CARRINGTON, HE is REAL in HEART to his JOB as an CARE GIVER, been A LOVING TRUE DOCTOR and being a TRUE HUMAN BEING to" ADD" to THE LIST TOO ;--))). I AM HAPPY TO KNOW HIM, MAY THE LORD CONTINUE TO BLESS HIM ALWAYS. AMEN!!! G>D

Other than the pill milling carrington did he was the best diabetic doctor i ever had in the 15 years of type one diabettes. He is the only doctor to listen to a once kid now man and my concerns about my diabettes. He has help more people than the FBI ever will. Leave him alone.

i agree with you i have beeb seeing him for two years he was the best doctor i just got off phone with him and i hope all goes well so i can go back to him

New Times is and has been complicit in all of it and has profited immensely.

As those who are unscrupulous continue to make a mockery of pain management so will the raids. It may not be tomarrow....but it will be.

I hope so as those Interventionalists are just the worst with their medicare billing fraud and then all those pills after the expensive procedures fail as they always do.
