The Many Faces of "Pill Mill Vinny"

vinnycolangelo.jpg
The many faces of Vincent Colangelo, the convicted heroin and cocaine trafficker who decided he could make more money in the pill mill business, where authorities say he unloaded some 770,000 high-powered pain pills in a single year.

Fort Lauderdale activist Cal Deal put together the montage. Deal saw his neighborhood sullied by one of Colangelo's seven pain medicine shops. Colangelo was living the high life, allegedly making $150,000 a day on the oxycodone business and buying up a fleet of high-priced sports cars that were also seized in yesterday's raid.

vinnyc.jpg
Buttoned-down Vinny in his Department of Corrections photo. He was released from prison in 2004 after serving more than four years on a heroin and cocaine trafficking conviction.
Here's what Deal wrote in an email today to Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler and the commission:

Allow me to introduce you to ex-con Vincent Colangelo -- the former heroin trafficker who was running the Ayda Weiss property Pain Clinic next door to Broward General (and three doors down from Ronald McDonald House) in the Poinciana Park neighborhood. He was arrested yesterday during the pill mill raids in South Florida. He's the guy they said was making $150,000 a day and had a warehouse full of super expensive cars. Channel 7's Carmel Cafiero has been on his case. Some of these mug shots are from her report on yesterday's raids at his clinics.

Incredibly, the pain clinic has been able to operate there because Broward General, thinking it was going to be a "medical office," gave the property owner -- Ayda Weiss -- some free parking to supplement her own. Many months ago I asked Broward Health to rescind that contract, and I have been told that the cancellation is in the works... but so is Christmas.

And now the city has allowed property owner Ayda Weiss -- who lives in comfy Sunrise Key -- to knock down a small building and stick more parking spaces in back of the clinic -- but that's not what was approved by the Planning Board, based on the last site plan I saw. How does that happen!!??

-- Inside, we look at a Pulp commenter who has been called both brilliant and obnoxious, whom some thought was an FBI agent and some even thought was me. It's the Amazing Karnack, of course. I'm going to be breaking out best hits of Pulp classic commenters and thought I'd start with one of the originals.

Karnack's first comment on the Pulp came on January 11, 2009, nine months before the FBI sting nabbed Beverly Gallagher and Joe Eggelletion, among others. Here's the text:

You make Karnack laugh. The story in Broward will be the same as in Palm Beach. Masilotti's wife started the bad news in Palm Beach with her disclosure of the ill gotten property in her divorce documents. Karnack says that begot her husband which begot Warren Newell, which begot McCarty. Karnack says the puppets couldn't wait to talk to the feds trying to keep themselves out of prison. Karnack wonders what special stories that turkey Ken Jennio had to tell the feds to shorten his stay. Karnack says Broward is a sewer flowing with human waste. Karnack wonders why the school board continues to utilize the phony doctor aka the cat in the hat. Oh yea, Karnack knows that the phony doctor head of the la dark nostra keeps the lid on the terrible audit reports coming out of the school board that the puppets continue to ignore. Karnack says la nova nostra and the la good ole nostra are all making their moves to be Broward leaders. Karnack has to laugh as they all vie to enrich themselves in the name of Broward County and its children. Karnack says they forgot what public service is all about. Karnack says the train has left the station. Karnack says for some the train has arrived. Karnack says read all the latest stories and smell the locomotive breath all around us.

Here are some of his best hits:

February 12, 2009: Karnack says please don't pretend to talk about who has been malicious in the school district because the train will soon clarify those facts for everyone to see. Karnack says most especially the trumped up arguments concocted by the COO and the theater carried out by certain relatives of those on high. Diogenes, Karnack says if you are so naive as to believe Ms. Blackwood was the malicious party, Karnack says the District has some swamp land in Southwest Ranches they would like to sell you. Karnack foretold years ago that the spin doctoring within the political halls of the school board and the rest of the machine had been decoded and many were documenting the real stories. Karnack says you have exposed yourself as another spin doctor. Karnack says if Ms. Blackwood were the most malicious person in America it should not matter that Mr. Morgan is perceived as a nice guy (to those that need him in that position). Karnack says it is all about the children right. Karnack says certainly you are concerned about what jeopardy an unqualified Mr. Morgan has placed the children and the District in. Karnack says but no, you are most interested in continuing the bashing of Ms. Blackwood and the justification of Mr. Morgan. Karnack says you make him laugh. Karnack says if Mr. Morgan and his bosses had the children in mind he never would have accepted the postion and they never should have offered him a position he was not qualified for. Karnack says you are why America falls for every ponzi scheme. Karnack says you are the one unable to weigh the facts independently. Karnack says don't look now but your prejudice and motives are showing. Karnack says it will soon become crystal clear as to how and why Mr. Morgan was so right for the job and Ms. Blackwood was not and why you want to make this personal between Morgan and Blackwood. Karnack says it is so you can call it a soap operah and confuse the real issues. Karnack says the train has left the station. Karnack says the locomotive breath is replacing the swirling spin.

[Note: School Board building official Ron Morgan was later charged with crimes and caught the eye of the statewide grand jury.]

May 27, 2009: Karnack says soon the machine will be exposed. Karnack says yes many puppets feel a special entitlement and serve their greedy masters faithfully. Karnack says many have felt the wrath of intimidation and retribution for trying to speak out. Karnack says our society has been brutally assailed by the puppets and forced to go along to get along. Karnack says the machine's secret inner workings will be exposed for all to see the depth and breadth of the assault. Karnack says the revolution will begin on that day. Karnack says the machine wants you to believe that gay marriage, illegal immigration, welfare, and the need for universal healthcare are to blame for the deterioration of our society. Karnack says while we watch that puppet show the masters have their hands in our pockets robbing us blind. Karnack says our nation is mostly fiscally conservative and socially moderate. Karnack says the machine can't fabricate causes to funnel money to their special interests if we all are working together. Karnack says we will soon see the price we pay for being afraid to stand up and expose every case of public corruption we see. Karnack says the laws are weak now. Karnack says public corruption will soon be exposed as the nation's greatest threat to peace and security. Karnack says the train has left the station. Karnack says the locomotive breath is all around us.

April 7, 2009: Bob, Karnack says the State Attorney's Office is much like the print newspaper business. Karnack says the print news is going under for one reason and one reason only; they have failed to remain relevant in our society. Karnack says they sold out to corporate advertisers and those with political influence instead of doing what they promised or swore to do, investigate and report the facts in an unbiased manner on events that occur. Karnack says those who bet on the American people to be uneducated, apathetic, or preoccupied only listen to Fox news. Karnack says there are many of us capable of independent thought and analysis. Karnack says for those of us concerned about the facts and real investigative work, print news and the State Attorney's office are a huge disappointment. Karnack says it will be nice to see you at the station Bob so you can write and tell others about the facts. Karnack says there will be many gasping in horror at the carnage the train will reveal. Karnack says the train left the station a long time ago. Karnack says can you hear the sound, clickity clack, clickity clack, clickity clack.

[Note: Karnack loves to talk in code. "Horse Face" is former Supt. Frank Till. The "Big Cheese Lady" was Stephanie Kraft. "Buster" is former union boss Walter Browne, who recently was released from prison. And "Don Jimmy" is current Supt. James Notter.]

June 11, 2009: Karnack says horse face kept busy trying to keep five happy. Karnack says he did that by keeping Buster happy. Karnack says Buster knew how to keep many happy. Karnack bets Buster and horse face have many interesting memoirs. Karnack says horse face was shot down gangland style after his trusty body guard went on unplanned vacation. Karnack says the new five are just another gang same as the old gang. Karnack says now they take a bigger cut. Karnack says entire system based on elections is broken. Karnack says public corruption is rampant because public feels helpless. Karnack says public feels helpless because even those elected to police public officials are corrupt. Karnack says look up public corruption around the country. Karnack says public must take greater role in exposing corruption when they see it. Karnack says soon you will see why. Karnack says the public elected gangs are stealing your money in broad daylight and laughing at your helpless asses. Karnack says you must learn their language in order spot the conspiracy. Karnack says be skeptical at all times. Karnack says whenever a puppet tells us they have a new method or a plan to improve conditions, reach around behind your back and protect your wallet. Karnack says the train has left the station. Karnack says the train always runs on time.

June 12, 2009: Karnack says it has always been about the numbers, student stations, FTE, and the fat capital slush fund. Karnack says no hints there Pulpman look it up. Karnack says horse face was doomed the day the Big Cheese Lady arrived. Karnack says she came with an agenda from many soccer moms who already loved Don Jimmy. Karnack says they still spend many hours pining over what really could have been. Karnack says look up an old story about a fish that only swims at night, or does he. Karnack says the Big Cheese Lady had to wait for the right opportunity to place the sanction on horse face. Karnack says you still need five no matter how big an idiot the superintendent is. Karnack says one other horse face supporter had to leave before the new coalition led by the Big Cheese Lady and the good doctor. Karnack says can you guess who. Karnack says that's one puppet that got bigger strings, or did she. Karnack says she certainly got more money. Karnack wonders how the puppets can organize a coalition of five when they can only discuss things in the sunshine. Karnack says more research material Pulpman. Karnack says two of the original five have died. Karnack says can you tell us who replaced them. Karnack says now that Buster has been outed, can you tell us which illustrious puppet was doing the horizontal bop with Buster's bigger younger brother on the top floor of the glass tower. Karnack says talk about your steamy labor management session. Karnack says the love sessions resulted in a wanted pregnancy that left PPO and the union roster bloated and overweight. Karnack says you don't have to look far on that one Pulpman, check our own audit files. Karnack says talk about taking one for the organization. Karnack says excuse me, I just got a visual of that scenario and I have to go scratch my eyes out.

August 4, 2009: Karnack watched Don Jimmy and the puppet show yesterday. Karnack says Don Jimmy continues the spin and blames Tallahassee for the District's financial crisis. Karnack has to laugh. Karnack says that is like the college student who was sent off to college with cash and a credit card provided by his parents. Karnack says the student spent the cash and maxed out the credit card on beer and parties for all of his friends. Karnack says when the student finally tried to buy books for his classes and the credit card had no money, the student quickly blamed his parents for not giving him enough money. Karnack says the book store didn't buy that lame ass story either. Karnack says Green Means Green for Me continued his spin as well. Karnack says we are spending money on a web site to justify the green initiative that is nothing more than another puppet sham to funnel money on a cause that looks real. Karnack says if Reality is for real, question this program that includes the back asswords front loading of performance contracting benefitting the contractors not the District. Karnack foretold the entire story would be told. Karnack says the puppets and their facilitators are dazed and confused. Karnack says every rag in town has let the dogs out and even their old cover guy sitsonhishands doesn't call any more. Karnack says project managers did not hire project managers. Karnack says don't lose sight of the big picture. Karnack says the puppets and their facilitators hired more and more staff to keep the union happy while they shoveled millions out the door through the TPM (one project manager) program and CM@ Risk programs. Karnack says new puppets already lining up to unseat the Big Cheese Lady. Karnack says Cheese supporters jumping ship. Karnack says more sending out signals to oppose all of the incumbents. Karnack says it will be a race to see who hits the door first, capital staff or the puppets and their facilitators. Karnack says the train has left the station. Karnack says the locomotive breath is all around us. Karnack foretold it would be the puppets themselves shoveling the coal.

August 9, 2009: Karnack says this is called welfare for the rich. Karnack says this county is best in class at raiding the public trough through emotionally charged issues (flames) fanned by the puppets on behalf of their masters. Karnack says sitsonhishands has made it all possible. Karnack says this county is an example of what can happen to a species when their natural predator is removed. Karnack says the puppeteers have been allowed to rape and pillage without fear of capture, until there is nothing but a vast wasteland of jackals and hyenas looking for food scraps. Karnack says soon they will turn on each other. Karnack says the evolutionary process is inevitable.

@ KennyPowersSays:

There is nothing available, at the Florida bar, in regards to an “Ayda Weiss.” Linkedin has this lawyer related to the private practice of Jay S. Weiss. However, there is no accessible information. Is this lawyer related in any way to the chapter 7 trustee Howard Weiss, on Glades Road in Boca Raton. I know of a case with some serious shenanigans involved in the stealing of a homestead, where this particular chapter 7 trustee was involved, along with about 4 other chapter 7 trustees (in the southern district). This all went down in the bankrupt court of Judge Raymond Billy Ray, the judge handling (?or mishandling?) the Rothstein affair.

Here’s my take on the matter. Once a crook, always a crook.

Ayda Weiss Atty. ? Property owner.

Time to go after the property owners in these cases. Part of the criminal enterprise.

"Incredibly, the pain clinic has been able to operate there because Broward General, thinking it was going to be a "medical office," gave the property owner -- Ayda Weiss -- some free parking to supplement her own. When is FLDE going to investigate the sheriff's "investigation" of his underlings who aided and abetted Scott Rothstein???

Posted by: trudat | February 24, 2011 4:05 PM

Well its about time. Thank you to Eglin Jones and Brittany Wallman. Enough with Lamberti's song and dance. Had no business bringing Jr. It all comes out in the wash so to speak. Also the Dept. Heads under him for covering it up also(send them packing) with all this bs. about the Sheriff followed proper protocol my ass.

Posted by: start w/ bso employee #00000 | February 24, 2011 4:09 PM

This is where it startsThen to getting his political guy's son out of a crack and prostitution arrestThen to his #2 (Wheeler) close relationship and private travels with RothsteinThen to his Executive Officer securely escorting Rothstien and a duffle bag fulll of $ out of the countryThen to his pay raise deal with the police union for their endorsementThen to his retaliation to the jail deputies who didnt endorse him

Lots of room to run here FDLE . . . If they cant get an indictment here then they should close up shop

Posted by: smoke | February 24, 2011 4:15 PM

Maybe the Broward State Attorney's Public Corruption office would better serve the public if they started to serve arrest warrants on the real corrupt officials. Oh, that's right, most of them get their campaign funding from the same pockets as the State Attorney. Slow down the bigger investigations so the statute can expire on the real thieves and create "The Superbowl Caper".

Posted by: Doctor Bill | February 24, 2011 4:18 PM

Robert,Robert Robert Walsh. Why don't you run for Sheriff. You would look great in that uniform. Who would you bring to the Super Bowl besides Judy Stern and Charlotte Rodstrom?

Posted by: so obvious its you | February 24, 2011 4:21 PM

You are all crazy if you think anything will come of this "investigation." First of all, no violation occured, no alias was used no paperwork was falsified. His son was clearly identified by name, and an obviously benign id number was issued (BSO 0000). He never lied, tried to hide or avoided the issue. This "invesigation" is simply to placate the moronic readers of Elgin Jones and Bob Norman's articles that think some devious crime ha been committed. Lamberti may have erred in judgement bringing the kid, but this partisan politically motivvated attempt to smear him is as weak as it gets.

Posted by: Senator John Blutarsky | February 24, 2011 4:23 PM

This was a case of very poor judgement by the Sheriff but I suspect he did not see it that way. Does that mean he would be OK if every deputy brought their teen to a major event and had them credentialed so they could work. And speaking of working..since the Sheriff's son was credentialed and was along for the handiling of security (and was not watching the game) was he paid?

Again, very poor judgement, but is it worth our tax dollars being wasted for this invesigation?

Posted by: respond | February 24, 2011 4:37 PM

They'll spend tax dollars to investigate this incident but not how his dept aided and abetted Scott Rothstein. Priceless!

Posted by: Ridiculous | February 24, 2011 5:02 PM

Sounds like Schnakenberg had his last hurrah. I believe that the Sheriff will claim that the fine Captain falsified records to obtain the creds for his son. I would strike fast and make and example out of the fine Captain for his crimes.Termination should be swift...

Posted by: Jason Smith | February 24, 2011 5:07 PM

"It was not a ticket,'' Lamberti said. "I was not sitting in a skybox with a bowl of popcorn.''

Unfortnately for Lamberti, this statement also turns out to be a lie. There are several witnesses who will cooperate and state that Lamberti and his son were up in the skyboxes during the game ... and not outside the stadium like he is now claiming.

Posted by: Truth Will Out | February 24, 2011 5:20 PM

Have have been a 20 year resident of Broward County and cancelled by script for the Sunsentinel paper because of the poor and shoddy stories having little or no investigation. The Sentinel has for some unknown reason been protecting the Sheriff and his administration for their involvement with atty Rothstein(PONZI-MAN) and just what the heck happened to the steroid cases involving his personnel. Hasn't the statue of limitations expired and the investigations closed since the arrest of the doctors involved. The news paper needs to drag the Sheriff into court for refusing to turn over PUBLIC RECORDS and stop what is very apparent a cover-up at the Sheriff's direction. Sheriff Lamberti is at the helm of this corruption and is soley responsible for these stall tactics.

Posted by: Davie Jones | February 24, 2011 5:25 PM

Yeah, I remember Nick too, Back then BSO couldn't get enough crack in their systems FROM the streets that they had to make their own. BSO still needs drug tested today too.

Posted by: John | February 24, 2011 5:27 PM

Justin you're a F&*&^%%&** moron, Nick Navarro took a backwater Sheriffs Dept and turned it into the professional dept it is today. If you are for law enforcement then you were for Nick Navarro. When they told him his jails were overcrowded, rather than put criminals on the street before there time was served, he put a tent up with cots and let them stay there rather than be released. If you think that is inhumane, then I suggest you think of the conditions our young men and women who are serving in the military have to put up with. And before you comment, there is no organization in the world that does not have corruption from time to time. I would much rather live in a society where there continues to be some corruption than in a society that appears to have none. Now lets see if you have the intellect to figure out why!

Posted by: Joe Smith | February 24, 2011 5:27 PM

Some readers still miss the point: The entire Super Bowl support operation involving the Sheriff himself is a total lie and sham. No Sheriff and certainly not this one actually performed any direct involvement in the security. He was not there to assist or supervise. There were plenty of supervisors and troops there. The Sheriff himself has NOTHING to do other than be there with his son for their own recreation and pleasure. If you keep that absolute fact in mind, the rest of the truth will fall into place to expose the corruption. I know-I was inside this mess.

Posted by: Mr. Fondo | February 24, 2011 5:31 PM

The Sun-Sentinal has absolutely been remiss for not pursuing the various scandles coming forth from Lambert's agency. What happened to "investigative reporting?" The Sun-Sentinal is being raped by the excellent work of this small weekly paper and Elgin Jones. The Super Bowl, the steroid cases involving dozens of deputies, the coverup of BSO criminal tactics when trying to unseat certain union reps, manipulation of promotional scores, assignment of unqualified personal friends to plum positions (persons with phony and dubious backgrounds) that and the sheriff's personal involvement with criminals families.

Leave poor Al alone, the real crooks are at Mass Transit.

Investigate Chris Walton, Phyllis Berry, and Alex Little.

Posted by: Joe | February 24, 2011 5:50 PM

The Sun-Sentinel has been protecting Lamberti because he was their main source on all the Jenne stuff. Then they promoted him and showered him with praise when he was appointed. Then they endorsed him when he ran again. The Lamberti/Sun-Sentinel relationship is incestuous.

You watch, they will never put this Lamberti stuff on the front page or the editorial page unless he is cleared and they will never, ever mention his ties to Rothstein and the corresponding coverups of his corrupt minions. To be critical of Lamberti is to be critical of themselves. That will not happen. He's their guy, bought paid for warts and all. They created him and now they will see to it that all of us have to live with him.

The Sun-Sentinel whiffed on the corrupt School Board story for the same reason. They are lazy and defensive and completely co-opted by these political crooks

Thank goodness for blogs - that is where you will find the truth

When will the public wake up of how corrupt our local are? Broward and Palm Beach County has to have the worst police agencies in the nation. Sheriff Lamberti committed a crime. And his son also. He should be punish the same way as others are punished. He should resign, and have a criminal investigation put upon him.

How many of you take your sons to work, train up the next generation. Get over it kids. Our 8 year old son gets the benefits of his dads intelligence and position and hopefully by watching dad learns how to be a leader. Sorry dont see anything wrong with taking your son to work, he is 15. Call it work study.

robnsfla and Training up the next generation of leaders you can't be serious. Are you really saying that you think it's ok for an elected government official to submit falsified official documents so his son could get into the Super Bowl? I guess in your book it's also ok for the Sheriff to pass his minor son off as a Law Enforcement Officer working a detail . You and I both know that if anyone at BSO did this, the Sheriff would have had that person fired and charged with a crime. The actions of the Sheriff, and law enforcement officers who condone this sort of behavior are the reason why we're losing public support.

Posted by: Jennifer | February 24, 2011 8:40 PM

seems to me there is alot of speculation of intentJennifer, as far as I know he used his sons name, is that falsifying records? Perhaps they should have another form to extend opportunity to follow along. For all of you others who speak about how awful and corrupt things are, there was a long line of corruption before him and a cleanout doesnt happen overnight. I doubt many of you naysayers could clean up BSO in the time you think Al should have.....

Training up the next generation of leaders. Before you post on this topic, I suggest you read all of the South Florida Times articles written by Elgin Jones. Also click on all the PDFS and review the documents for yourself. After reviewing the application you will see that it was falsified.Lamberti's 15 year old son was listed as a Law Enforcement Officer and given a fake CCN # BS0000. He was also listed as security for the AFC team on the matrix. I don't think proving intent will be an issue.

Posted by: jennifer | February 24, 2011 9:38 PM

To FDLE: When your done with this investigation, please come to Palm Beach County and take a look at Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. Ray Charles could find enough corruption that it would take the rest of your FDLE careers to break thru the surface. Its a huge ripoff of our tax money on a daily basis. Please come quickly, we cant afford much more.

Posted by: term limits | February 24, 2011 10:36 PM

This is yet another case of Lamberti's bad judgement. His staff responded to a call 7 miles from the victim, despite perfect, repeated and correct address provided to them. BSO found her at the address she reported 36 hours later and his staff would not do an internal investigation of this terrible and dangerous incompetence. Bad judgement is epidemic in Lamberti's office from the top down.

The letter written by Cal Deal brings up a problem that STILL exists in Fort Lauderdale, which is (besides the “pill mill” operation) the fact that Fort Lauderdale seems to associate itself with unscrupulous persons and enterprises that do not follow the law.

Cal Deal wrote “And now the city has allowed property owner Ayda Weiss -- who lives in comfy Sunrise Key -- to knock down a small building and stick more parking spaces in back of the clinic -- but that's not what was approved by the Planning Board, based on the last site plan I saw. How does that happen!!??” YES INDEED -- HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN, AND HOW OFTEN DOES THE CITY LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHILE THERE IS UNJUST ENRICHMENT & OPEN VIOLATIONS OF THE CITY’S OWN LAW AND PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT CODE?????????

About fifteen years ago, I found the same situation (of the city acting in ignorance of the city’s own laws) when the Fort Lauderdale Historical Commission Board granted an historical status on property identified as “Smoker Park” (a/k/a New River Park) and a structure identified as the “Oliver House.” Fort Lauderdale’s Code of Ordinances was supposed to protect this newly designated status, as the City Code would recognize that the property could not be damaged in a way that took away its significance (OTHERWISE TO BE READ AS NO DEVELOPMENT). The historical (“no change & no development”) status also resided with the land, if a building like the Oliver House sat on it. Regardless, this LAW was USELESS, in that the LAW did not prevent the City of Fort Lauderdale from operating in direct violation of the LAW, by granting an allowance to a development desired by H. Wayne Huizenga. The law was not supposed to be violated without repercussion (or shaped through interpretation to benefit a person considered to possess more of a rank because of excess wealth, in being a multi-millionaire). YET -- IT HAPPENED, AND THE CITY LAWS WERE VIOLATED (WITH IMPUNITY) BY THOSE WITH A FAVORED STATUS!!!

A lawyer, named William R. Scherer pretended to be a City of Fort Lauderdale attorney (by swearing in an affidavit to such a counterfeit position) and fought (in the city’s name) for the right and interests of his recognized client (which was really his business partner H. Wayne Huizenga and 1 or more of the Forman minions of Hamilton’s family, but) ignorantly recognized, by a corrupted court, as the named party of the court action (which was the City of Fort Lauderdale). This recognition was contrary to the recognition of city attorneys and outside attorneys permitted by the City Charter and came in direct violation of law (of which the judge, who had participated in writing the City Charter, refused to recognize, because he considered the Charter to be outside the law). But, it would not matter to the connected at the courthouse. Michael Satz was ALWAYS aware of the violations and did NOTHING. There was no way of knowing if Satz, too, was on an outside payroll, besides accepting his State paycheck -- but, it was easy to see that the State Attorney was not on the side of the law, whether on a paid or unpaid basis, when shmoozing with those acting corruptly.

Btw -- this land was already owned by Broward County, being purchased, at a then-exorbitant cost for the times, with State and federal funds (in 1974 -- in 2 separate purchases) so that this land would be the place where the new governmental center would be constructed. In addition, this area consequently had donations of federal community block grant money and State of Florida inland navigational district grant money for the open space -- which open space was subsequently protected by a status of “the New River Park jewel on the New River” as part of the municipal bond for the Riverwalk. Unlike the Miami Circle purchase, of which Miami-Dade County spent $26 million, Broward County would not have had to spend such money on its already publicly owned open space, that was over double the size of that “privately-maintained parcel” bought by Miami-Dade County (which was around the same time period).

During this time, my attention was brought about, to another similar problem, by a visit from a businessman who was a member of the City’s Marine Advisory Council. Mayor Jim Naugle’s friend, Frederick “Sonny” Irons, was running the council, and this businessman had found something alarming (where he needed help to overturn what he felt had clearly been corruptly done). What had been found out was that the Fort Lauderdale City Commissioners were going to vote on a proposition from the Marine Advisory Council, based on a document that had NEVER gone before the Marine Advisory Council. He had accidentally come into receipt of the document, after he had lost the original, which had been given at a scheduled council meeting (a few weeks before), when he had gone to the city to retrieve a copy of that which he had received prior. He was shocked to find that the document the Council had discussed did not really exist in the city’s records, as that which had been given to him had data that had never been discussed (and seemed to have been in violation of the laws). Troubling to this businessman was that he was told that the ALTERED, UNREVIEWED document he was given would be heard in less than one week (and the calls that he was making to the other members of the council, about the predicament, were not being returned).

Over fifteen years ago, this businessman came to me with his vexing problem -- which was -- the City was going to vote on a proposition where the City was going to rent out space on the public beach, in increments of twenty-five feet. When questioned, City employees told me that they did not believe that the action being taken would take access away from the people -- because the rental of beach sand would only be from the high water mark. (After reviewing the Riverwalk documents & city’s Agreement for Lease in another battle,) I had already been made aware of the giveaway of the City’s riparian rights on the New River (to the Scherer/Huizenga/Stiles/Forman association) -- and so, I knew that the argument would be one resting on the riparian rights of the people to their own waters and waterways. That would be the way to back down the City. That and gathering as many people as I could to fight such an outlandish initiative. Imagine -- the City was going to vote up or down a plan that had only been known to Sonny Irons (and, from his association to the Mayor, Jim Naugle).

So, in response to Cal Deal -- imagine that!!!!! State laws and the city code may have been violated when the North Broward Hospital District unreservedly gave away parking spaces to a convicted felon who had trafficked in heroin, but who needed free parking for his many valued customers, so that he could continue to ply his trade in giving his customers more-than-enough heroin-like drugs to be dealt on the streets. Moreover, the City is continuing to violate its own laws in the allowance of this give-away, and the City is further acting contrary to plans appropriately filed with the proper departments. Do you think that you should report this to the State Attorney for Broward County (Michael Satz-on-his-hands), the Broward County Sheriff (Lamberti), or the seat of government for Broward County in Fort Lauderdale Chief of Police (Adderley)? I am told that there are no longer operatives like Hanlon and Countryman in the State Attorney’s office. I am told that the sheriff has moved the racketeer Scott Rothstein’s bagman and wheelman into other positions (of power, instead of their previous positions as the 2 second-in-command to the top). I am told that the Police Chief is watching the forty police officers that were on the payroll of Scott Rothstein, and maybe in twenty years something might be done by him -- that is if he is still the CHIEF.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MR DEAL? ARE YOU REALLY SURPRISED THAT THE PILL MILL WOULD BE CONSTRUCTED WITH NON-EXISTENT PLANS? (Now, here’s the follow-up for you to consider about the matter you have brought to the attention of those on this blog -- In a question that has been frequently asked) ANY ARRESTS LATELY??????? Remember, this is not about the arrests reported on in Bob Norman’s article -- this would be about those involved in evading the intent of the law (while making the law). You know who this would be -- our public servants, government officials, and the like. So, here’s the spin on the matter. Do you think that there will be any arrests lately or in the future with these corrupted persons holding public positions? Or, was that an issue covered (or covered-up) by the most recent Statewide Grand Jury looking into the matter of public corruption? WHAT DO YOU THINK MR DEAL?

Bob Norman has ignored the Rothstein story that was nationally aired last night on AMERICAN GREED:SCAMS. Probably because Marc Nurick made him look foolish. Marc said (LOL) that Bob thought he was getting a BIG SCOOP (when Bob video taped Rothstein and Nurick at the Capital Grille) but in reality helped the FBI's cover story as they wanted Rothstein to be seen in the public to build a case against the mob.

As I read the first group of comments I began to see red. Comments knocking Karnack or referring to his writings as obnoxious and too boring to follow sent me to a dark place. Maybe Karnack should provide the first and last name, social security number and permanent address to all he/she refers to. Maybe Karnack should just keep the information to him/her self because without drawing a picture with lots of zany colors and noises, a few will never figure it out. Boy, Karnack sure is a “dummy head” huh? Speaking in all those dumb riddles. Guess what? Karnack is dead-balls on! Those here who don’t get it, sleep well tonight knowing you are not part of the problem; your naive self is the problem. People are working very hard to try to make this cesspool of a county whole again and you still don’t get it. To you I suggest you swallow a few more Oxy’s and catch up on your 10 pre-recorded episodes of Jersey Shores. That’s more your speed.

But then I snapped back into focus and realized that these “few” are just that, a “few.” Certainly not the majority. Thank God for you. In my (very humble) opinion, the value of your insight, input, knowledge and persistence can not be quantified. I have the blessing (sarcasm) of working with many, if not all of the entities mentioned here, on a daily basis. Watching the depressing decline of what has become business as usual in Broward is utterly demoralizing. All aspects of Broward government have literally ground to a halt. We are gridlocked and it runs so deep that most of us employed in these ranks are powerless. Our only hope is the Media, the Fed’s and the citizens that have the clout to change things. Pulp and Pulpsters, don’t let up now. Many are counting on you.

Other than that, I have no opinion.

PS- I used the word "zany"

FDLE investigating Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti

By Brittany Wallman February 24, 2011 03:15 PMUPDATED WITH COMMENT from State Attorney's OfficeThe Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti's decision to take his teen son to the Super Bowl with credentials from Broward Sheriff's Office, that agency confirmed.

This news was first reported by Elgin Jones in the South Florida Times, which you can read here.

Heather Smith at FDLE said Thursday that the agency's Tallassee-based Office of Executive Investigations would handle the probe, which would include interviewing witnesses and likely the sheriff himself.

"What we’re investigating is the issue of the issuance of credentials to the sheriff’s son at the Super Bowl,'' she said. Smith said the Broward State Attorney's Office's Public Corruption Unit contacted FDLE last week and requested the investigation.

Click here to see our previous coverage of this, including what Lamberti said about this.

In short, Lamberti took his then-15-year-old son, Nick, along with him to handle security at last year's Saints vs. Colts matchup. Lamberti's son was among many at BSO who got credentials, but obviously is not a deputy.

Lamberti said he and his son saw none of the game.

"It was not a ticket,'' Lamberti said. "I was not sitting in a skybox with a bowl of popcorn.''

Ron Ishoy, spokesman at the State Attorney's Office, said this:

"We received a complaint. We decided to ask for FDLE's assistance because we felt that FDLE, as a police agency, would be able to provide an additional persepective on police procedures. We have assigned a prosecutor to assist FDLE on this matter."

The prosecutor is David Schulson.

Thank you, Karnack!!!! We've missed you here in Pulpland. As JAD said in his eloquent piece, we must all continue raising our voices, asking the pertinent questions, refuse to accept, "Oh, that's the way we have to do it," as a correct answer. Remember the bumper stickers?: QUESTION AUTHORITY (Be a PULPSTER) THE MORAL MAJORITY IS NEITHER (Beware of the righteous)Don't let the bad guys get you down. If there is no way TODAY to remove school board members, we have a legislative session starting next week...CHANGE THE LAW!!! I'm all for giving the new school board "kids" a break, but MY representative, Mr. Thomas, disappointed me by saying he "might" call for a vote of confidence on Notter...and then did not even address the matter!!! Strike One, Dave.Stacy Ritter plans on running for re-election??? EVERY Broward voter needs to invade the Kings Point Condominiums and let those folks know that she is NOT a nice person. Jennifer Gottlieb should step down immediately and the enrollment at Beachside Montessori needs to examined and reviewed. The school is in a MINORITY neighborhood but has an amazing majority of white, non-Hispanic, students. Pulp, let's see whose children are enrolled there. That sounds like the same kind of privilege that enabled our Sheriff to take his son to the Super Bowl. It may be the way things HAVE been done here, but it's got to stop!!And, if the school board is unable to comprehend what is ethical and what is not, they should IMMEDIATELY tender their resignations. The APPEARANCE of impropriety is enough to rule out the behavior. If you have to ask, DON'T EVEN THINK of proceeding, it doesn't pass the smell test.Lastly, thank you Mr. Norman. The crap that you have to put up with is disgusting. It has to hurt, it has to make you stop and wonder if it's worth it. Thanks for just keepin' on!

Karnack, the clickety clack, clickety clack is getting louder. Those that are on the tracks are going to be mowed down.

The Amazing Karnack has been an inspiration. Broward County needs more upright citizenry that will competently & thoroughly examine that which is being presented and, also, go around the presentation, to cover all bases. KARNACK -- of course -- you have done your research, and your call to arms is right on the money. You are correct in your conclusion that there is a price that the citizenry pays (and will continue to pay) if they do not stand up and work (whether individually, in small groupings, or in unison) to expose the public corruption. It is a responsibility of all citizens to do what they can. Karnack has tried to make everyone aware that there is an amazing amount of power that is held by the people, which they can use. So -- to the residents and citizens -- Even if you believe that you can not do much by exposing that which you know, don’t let that belief silence you. That little piece of information just may be what is needed to nail any one or more of these corrupted government officials, public servants, contract agents, money men, or associates.

Christy you, like many others, have joined in the mission laid out by Hammerhead, Karnack, & the others seeking a way to put a halt to the criminality, with a request to expose the b*st*rds that have been getting away with so much in corrupted broward-town and elsewhere. And, you have done much to help the pulpsters & others stay on the right track, to try to connect the dots, in order that the material gleaned can be passed to an authority that can use that which has been researched. When I read your request the other day to write to Robin Meade, I immediately went to work to write and send the information I had. From a post that day, it seems that you have had more response to your request, as Patti Lynn has said that she too followed through. You saw an opening and immediately made people aware. The opportunity was there for the taking, which meant that it was possible to get (a wider audience for the) exposure (on the corruption of the Broward County School Board, dirty bond dealings, and misspending of what the school board treated nonchalantly as other people’s moneys), so that more people could see the truth and want to get involved in ridding us of the corruption (so prevalent in so many areas).

This seems so simple, that it is ignored. The simplicity is that you write, call, or speak to people about your concerns. Do so as an informed citizen -- and, especially take advantage when there is a person who wants to assist and has the ability to do much with the information you provide. Do you see what has occurred from the response to the articles written by Bob Norman and Elgin Jones, involving the actions of the Broward County Sheriff, when ignoring federal & State laws by picking & choosing those who he, himself & on-his-own (with the assistance of certain hench-men) deemed had certain qualities to enable them to attend the Superbowl? What Karnack and many have chosen to do is to examine certain circumstances and interest others in their investigations. Some of those involved in other matters have chosen to research the law and put the law together with the facts being revealed, in order to demonstrate how the laws had been violated, who had been involved, and what part or parts of the police and courts were involved in the participation, cover-ups, or reception of bribes, kickbacks, or extorted moneys (that could keep the enterprise active in their enclosed network of good ole boys).

What Michael Satz has NOT done as the State Attorney will no longer be tolerated. We no longer will accept the “no true bills,” after the State Attorney makes a case (to a Grand Jury) that the evidence clearly shows (to a first year law student) will have no effect other than to make no presentment. We no longer will sigh when operatives are given a green light, because of & by the State Attorney’s intentional fumblings and deliberate inadequacies (that tend to deliver nothing more than statements by a Statewide Grand Jury rather than any mandate, let alone indictments), wherein this protected class of criminals (in the good ole boy network, for over a generation) have been granted an (unspoken, turn your head to the actual information) allowance to continue to lie, cheat, steal and manipulate the laws. We no longer will be satisfied with a stream of Grand Juries that do nothing but offer rules of conduct that are meaningless. If those paid to root out corruption will not do their jobs, then we, as individuals or together will have to do the job for them. The citizenry is active and will work to expose the criminal acts of those operatives that had been protected -- because of the fact that we are able to know about the shenanigans and deception.

No longer will a ridiculous excuse by the sheriff prevent a person from looking for an agency that will properly investigate the matter. No longer will we tolerate unequal treatment because of familial or blood relationships. If the son of the Broward County Medical Examiner is acting in a way as to make people get hooked on drugs, his activity should be looked into (no matter what the ME wants). If the daughter of the Broward County Medical Examiner is acting in a way as to make people file reports of theft of their family estate, her activity should be looked into (no matter what the ME wants). If the son of the Broward County Sheriff has accepted that which could not be given, as to make people feel there was an endangerment to a national venue, his activity (and those who supported any of the illegalities and ethical breaches) should be looked into (no matter what the sheriff wants). This should be the way that it is no matter if you are the wife of the Fort Lauderdale Chief of Police, the daughter of a prominent lawyer working for the State Attorney, a relative of a judge, the son or daughter of a school board member, county commissioner, property appraiser, or any office holder.

Karnack's the BEST! Highly entertaining and pure fun which is the only way we can stomach the corruption that he/she is exposing. I love the like about this county being an example of what can happen to a species when their natural predator is removed.

Is there any chance that Notter, Gottlieb, etc. will face charges for their crimes?

Unfortunately "our" School Board and it's corrupt management will continue business as usual until they are forced out. Notter must shit his pants every time Karnack writes.
