If those videos were produced by middleschoolers they might be forgivable. If we the taxpayers are footing the bill for this tripe, god help us. How could these "educators" allow themselves to participate in such embarrassing silliness? It would appear they're missing the "embarrassment gene", all around. FDLE opens probe into Super Bowl pass Written by Elgin Jones FORT LAUDERDALE – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating law enforcement credentials issued to Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti’s teenage son that allowed him to gain entry at no cost into the Super Bowl played at Sun Life Stadium on Feb. 7, 2010.

“Last week, FDLE received a request from the Broward State Attorney’s Office to investigate the credentialing of Sheriff Lamberti’s son at the Super Bowl,” Heather Smith, FDLE’s director of External Affairs, said in an e-mail responding to a query from South Florida Times. “FDLE’s inquiry will be conducted by our Office of Executive Investigations in Tallahassee.”

Gov. Rick Scott is aware of the credentials controversy but he did not order the investigation, Smith said.

FDLE Commissioner Gerald M. Bailey made the decision after prosecutors with the Broward State Attorney’s Office requested the probe. Lamberti has not responded to questions on the issue from South Florida Times.

In addition to hundreds of military personnel, more than 1,000 law enforcement officers from 64 local, state and federal agencies were deployed in a security blanket around the stadium in Miami Gardens for the Super Bowl. A 30-mile “no fly” zone was imposed around the sports complex and the Department of Homeland Security raised the terror threat level. Hundreds of military vehicles, ships and aircraft patrolled the immediate area and 50 miles of coastline to keep the game safe.

Although security was tight, the sheriff’s teenage son was able to enter the game with credentials reserved for law enforcement personnel.

Those credentials were obtained through an application submitted to the Miami-Dade police department, the agency that dealt with such applications as the lead law enforcement body for the Super Bowl.

The application bore the name of BSO Captain Robert Schnakenberg, head of the Criminal Investigations Division, as the person submitting the document to M-DPD on behalf of Nick Lamberti, who was then 15 years old. That application indicated the teenager was part of BSO’s contingent that provided security for the Indianapolis Colts. The document also listed a BSO employee number for Nick Lamberti as “BSO-0000.”

His father was listed as his immediate supervisor and the space for his date of birth was left blank. Miami-Dade police processed the application and forwarded it to the U.S. Secret Service, the federal agency that actually issued the credentials. Nick Lamberti received the same highest level security clearance and unrestricted access as his father, the sheriff, at no cost.

After South Florida Times broke the story some weeks ago, published reports have since quoted Lamberti and Schnakenberg as saying it was the National Football League that issued the credentials to the younger Lamberti and that law enforcement agencies involved in the security effort were aware of the teenager’s attendance.

An NFL spokesman has denied that claim, saying the league had no knowledge of or involvement in Nick Lamberti’s credentialing. The Secret Service, the Department of Homeland Security, Miami-Dade police, FDLE and other law enforcement agencies have also refuted the published accounts reportedly given by the sheriff and the BSO captain.

“We only processed what they provided,” Commander Nancy A. Perez, director of the Miami-Dade police department’s Media Relations Bureau, recently told South Florida Times.

“We don’t have the time or resources to check everything that’s on another agency’s applications.”

This is stupid. BECON is a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY. Why does the School Board need a TV station?

'The videos produced by BECON were made to promote the Broward Education Foundation, which itself has had many dubious members on its board (Rick Kolb, Roy Rogers, etc.).'

Who was the intended audience? Surely these videos didn't go out to the general public.

That pictures of Notter in the sidecar driven by the board members and him hitchhiking are the perfect metaphor for his style of leadership.

He'll lead exactly to where the board tells him to, then they'll kick him out and he's left to fend for himself.

Time to freeze the school board's money (if there is anything in there) and realize Jim Notter is an old dog and he is incapable of learning new tricks, please remove this clown.

The only superintendent job Notter should be doing is one taking care of a NY building garbage and plumbing problems.

A leech or parasite need to be forcefully removed, they will not go by themselves unless host is dry to dead.

Let's mimic the PB County parents in removing their superintended.

It's absurd to conceive that Notter or anyone on the school board would resign after the report.

First, there is no way in hell a man or woman earning ( sorry not earning but being given) quarter of a million to sit ass in a chair, nod head yes, sign a few papers, no accountability or leadership, job standards low (but given high marks and praise) part time work would resign.

This man has to be forcefully remove by arm guards to give this away. So to expect this guy to resign is absurd at best.

Jeez at least we have pretty models to look at earning a living doing nothing. At least we have some gratification in that.

Pulp, its interesting that you post this today. This morning I was reviewing the agenda for the last regular school board meeting and there was an item on there about paying some woman to produce a series for the board and BEACON. She gets $5k per episode not to exceed $40k. Wonder if the same person did these videos?

Also, on that agenda is Beachside with $58k more in "unseen conditions" and a request to release some $600k in retainage. Beachisde is all over that agenda for this thing and that thing.

I was floored over Dinnen's comment during the ethic workshop - about how the wording should be very clear so she "doesn't have to ask her secretary what is right and was isn't".HUH? Wait - hold up. HHmmmmmm maybe her secretary, Denise should consider running for the next board seat that comes up. After all, she knows more about the policies than Maureen.

Sadly, I don't think this crap will ever end.

Broward politics/government are unbelievable. But Miami-Dade needs monitoring by the daily pulp.

What's so striking (and amusing) is just how amateurish these productions are. A middle schooler with a decent computer could produce at least the same quality product. I daresay, the writing couldn't be too much worse.
