Palm Beach County Jail Guard Derrick Daniels Charged With Arranging Prisoner Fight

Daniels was placed on paid leave and booked into the county's main jail, where he has worked for the past 18 years, according to the Palm Beach Post. He faces a slew of charges that include tampering with physical
evidence, culpable negligence, aggravated battery, and three counts of
official misconduct.

Daniels never reported the December 12 fight, and he neglected to enter the event into his log book that night, the affidavit states.
Luckily,
the two inmates -- ordered to remain separated in a special confinement
section of the jail -- didn't end up killing each other. But the fight
did give Turnquest, who's already facing a first-degree murder charge, enough time to stab and cut Dunnaway with a couple of
homemade weapons, including a pencil and a self-fashioned razor blade, according to the affidavit.
After
his court appearance, Daniel's attorney, Patrick McKamey, said he
intends to aggressively defend his client. We're just wondering: Has he
arranged a sneak attack in the courtroom? If he has, our money's on the judge.
