What about George Levin the whale. This thing didn't take off until he got involved. By the time the feds get around to everyone they will either be gone, deceased or in out of the country with their money and overseas diggs.

• Geez Stu. You really pictured that one. Besides just examining the after effects of taking that jump onto the money train, you seem to understand why it can be very hard to turn down such an offer of money and position (especially the money that was being thrown around so creatively back in the 1990s and early 2000s -- and probably before that, although I was not that familiar, at that particular time, with the game being played). However, even though you seem to have an understanding of the predicament that you can find yourself in after the acceptance of an offer that you can’t refuse, your dissertation did not examine what could have occurred if there were to be no acceptance. What has to be admitted is that you can be punished if you don’t take the bait, as you can be viewed as a detriment. (You know -- you turned the scheme down because you understood the criminality, which makes you dangerous if it is thought that you have enough brains to put 2-and-2 together to reveal what you have figured out about the scheme.) In placing yourself in Salamone’s shoes, I’m sure that you can see that HIS IMMEDIATE RESPONSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A GIANT NO WITH HIS BACK TURNED TO ANY PART OF THE SCHEME, so that he would not be punished for his insight, hence perceived as dangerous, with knowledge of the enterprise -- rather than the alternative (he freely chose) of taking advantage of the lucrative offer that Rothstein had laid out for him. Bob Norman put the alternative into perspective when he explained Rothstein’s character as “a man with no qualms about destroying lives to get power and money.” I would suppose that Salamone understood this about his dear friend Scott Walter Rothstein, Esquire (Florida bar # 765880), a man with many connections and more associates than most mobsters in Broward County. Rothstein had been permitted to run with his scam, and those who got in first made out like the bandits they were. And, in the same light as that shone on Bernie Madoff, those invited onboard (like Salamone) roped in members of family, friends, and business associates (who had been innocent bystanders, merely looking for a decent way to capitalize their earnings in this society where the hapless, guileless citizenry believes that he or she is protected from the possibility of being duped into joining a criminal enterprise -- by laws, rules & regulations overseen by federal regulators, federal agents, State legal affairs, and local law enforcement, like former Attorney General Charlie Crist, Sheriff Al Lamberti, and Chief Franklin Adderley & their law-straddling underlings, like Lemieux, undersheriff “Bags” Benjamin, Wheeler “the wheelman,” and the “organizer” Greenlaw). Sorry for the sarcasm with that last sentence. I just wanted to say that your summation sounds about right.

• Sorry for the topic change, but I had to say something about the profoundly moving and touching funeral service for the slain Miami Police Officers. Miami Dade Police Director James Loftus 's heart wrenching comments made me have a new found respect for Law Enforcement. Both the officers lived in Broward County. It was a beautiful sad tribute. RIP
