Police Report: Sex Abuse Allegations Against Judge John Bowman

• He actually has a very extensive juvenile record. A judge can't appoint foster parents, he/she can only recommend a level of care. Most dependency judges to take a personal interest in these cases because they may see these kids for years. Also single people take in foster kids all the time. A single foster parent is still much better than a crappy group home.

• We don't know anything for sure. He hasn't been charged yet alone convicted, so you shouldn't call him a pedophile. I don't even like Bowman, but he is innocent until proven guilty. It is easy to say you are abused, but hard to prove you didn't do it. Even if he is innocent, a large percentage of people will still think he is guilty. I work with foster kids, and many of them make allegations about abuse that turn out to be false.

• Since when does a Judge get to take a special interest in a case he making decisions on?How could he appoint himself as a foster parent? then if he is innocent than why threaten to sue people who are only looking for the truth? He wasn't married at the time so why would a single Man with no wife or other children be interested in a child? I am sorry to say this makes me wonder about the people we put in office. As for DCF well they should TAKE A BETTER LOOK AT THE CASES THEY HANDLE AND MAKE SURE THE PEOPLE THEY ALLOW TO BE FOSTER PARENTS GET LOOKED AT MORE.How many people are involved in this case of letting a Judge take this personal interest in his cases.? what could this kid done so bad that many other teens have done?

• Sam, The plot is actually thicker than you imagine. At the time Bowman took this child he refused to comply with all the usual foster care parent requirements, to which, DCF acquiesced because he is a judge. The REAL irony is to have a pedophile judge presiding in dependency court!!

• I don't claim to know anythign about the specifics of this situation. But, I did go thru the foster care classes (about 12 weeks, required before one can become a foster parent) and the back ground check which is extensive. The last class was what to do when your arrested and how the DCF will treat the allegations by the child that you abused him or her. Said another way, claims of abuse, sexual or otherwise, are such a part of being a foster parent it is included in the training one gets before one becomes a foster parent. Foster children often have had hard, bad, awful lives and some will seek to manipulate the situation to get back to their parents, for leverage, for attention, out of spite, etc. I would reserve judgment.

• Why am I not surprised? I knew something was wrong with Bowman.
