Ron Klein Gives Obama Sloppy Seconds; West and Boehner in West Palm

It's a complicated ballet in South Florida today as politicians warily stump for one another, hedging bets all around.

The Palm Beach Post's George Bennett minds the choreography: First off, it's Ron Klein, who's campaigning with the president in Coral Gables later today. Lest too much of Obama's socialist fairy dust rub off on him, Klein steeled himself with three Republican endorsements this morning. Klein appeared at the West Palm waterfront along with Palm Beach Mayor Jack McDonald, Riviera Beach Council Chairwoman Dawn Pardo, and David Brady, who challenged Allen West in the Republican primary.
Meanwhile, West met with House Minority Leader John Boehner at a breakfast in the suburbs. Presumably worried about appearing alongside the not-radical-enough Regular Republican Boehner, West gave Politico a prebuttal of Boehner's "Pledge to America," calling it "boilerplate." What a nice way to welcome the orange-toned congressman to the Sunshine State:

"If John Boehner is speaker, I'm going to hold his feet to the fire," West said in an interview at the PGA National Hotel and Resort. "And I think that's important. And that's what people are expecting of me down here."

West is part of an anti-establishment wave that could very well produce a Speaker Boehner but could also present a whole new set of challenges for Republicans who hope to govern the House.

Meanwhile, Republican U.S. Sen. George LeMieux offered a prebuttal of his own. "I hope that the president will spend some time talking to everyday Floridians, not just Democratic fundraisers," wrote LeMieux from his office in the back of a Fort Lauderdale Jamba Juice.

Obama's event with Klein will take place at the Coral Gables home of former Heat player Alonzo Mourning. Nancy Pelosi was originally scheduled to attend, but she won't be there. That would likely be too much for Klein to handle.
