UPDATE: Pembroke Pines Cop Caught Mooning Animal Rights Protesters?

Animal-rights advocates gathered outside the Pembroke Pines subdivision of the president of a controversial South Florida research facility Sunday afternoon. They waved signs and told passersby about the disturbing photos leaked from Primate Products, the embattled facility run by Donald Bradford.

In addition to the 30 or so protesters, there were several members of the Pembroke Pines Police Department present, presumably to keep the demonstration peaceful. While one man -- protesters described him as a plainclothes cop -- leaned in the window of a squad car, having a conversation with two uniformed officers, he decided to bare his backside to the activists. (Observe the above photo.)

Just out of the frame of the above photo, on the squad car, are the words "Commitment to Serve."

We're still awaiting word back from the Pembroke Pines PD.

We are also still looking into exactly who this guy is and if he is, as reported, a police officer. (If he's not, he sure seems friendly with them. And they sure don't mind his naked ass in public.)

Gary Serignese, founder of SMASH HLS -- the group organizing the protest -- said he spoke to one of the officers before the protest to make sure they were allowed to be there. On the bare-assed man, he said:

"The disrespect he exhibited was far exceeded by the heartfelt concern community residents expressed for the primates Donald Bradford viciously exploits. The neighborhood is filled with compassionate animal lovers who were noticeably moved by our message. Their righteous response is an inspiration to me. With love like theirs motivating us, the imprisoned primates have a chance to live lives free of the pain and suffering Bradford profits from."
UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Sgt. Carlos Bermudez with the Pembroke Pines Police Department. For the city's response, click here.

Here's another shot of the ass.
