The handshake on the video is a re enactment unless you believe like Get R Done that Jaemi or Channel 10 just happened to have a video of Jaemi shaking hands before the alleged injury. During a re enactment she would have had to use her left hand since her right hand was bandage and would not have made as good tv. Regardless of whether the ballots of the absentee and early voters would make a difference to the result, if Meek were to withdraw now, those who did vote for him would have been deprived of making the choice they would have made if the race had been between Rubio and Crist alone. Bill Clinton certainly knows this. So why would he indulge in this 11th-hour water-muddying exercise? "Looking ahead" is the only answer that makes sense. Obama's got to be a little bit peeved here. If we had an instant-runoff voting system, last-minute changes like the withdrawal of a candidate could be handled smoothly. But we don't.

• @Steve-o We put up with John Bohner(or is it spelled Boner) for the last few years? Crist wouild do a much better job in the Senate. We also put up with Rep Mark Foley (pedophile), he was a republican too.

• Snowbirds absentee vote and quite a few of them are democrats. Meek's neighbor's dog would be better than Crist. He was and still is just horrible. It'll be interesting to see just who pulls this out.

• Thats, irrelevant, noname. Only 30% of the total votes come in during early voting. Of the 70% outstanding, some are absentee votes. But most absentee voters are republican - they wouldn't be voting for Meek anyway. A Meek dropout could and would sway this election toward Charlie.

• Isn't it about time we retire Crist once and for all? With all the tanning sessions, starched shirts, beards, $52k birthday cakes and man-groping. Why the fuck would you want 6 years of this?

• I mentioned Levine's letter regarding Bev Gallagher in a post yesterday. Think of me as a referee -- I call it as I see it and try not to let the last call affect the next one. (Though it's true that some public officials -- Kraft being a prime example -- have proven themselves unworthy of the game). You should be really concerned about reporters who are consistently supportive of (or unquestioning of) certain politicians. That's where the journalistic corruption lies.

• Um the vendors were selling the pipes to children. They sent in minors to buy the pipes and busted those who sold to minors. This was not exactly a victimless crime. The victim is the minor's parents.

• Adler may have decided that playing dumb was his only play, but no judge or jury for that matter is ever going to believe that a law firm gave one of the lawyers extra money out of other partner's fee income in recognition of his efforts to build a PI practice. If I bring in fees, I share them with attorneys who didn't over my dead body. I share them with non partners over my buried body. There's usually a small portion of total receipts set aside for the managing partner, and for bonuses to those who have done great community, PR, business development or other activities, or gotten great results for a client, and the like, but it's not a huge amount. Partners share in the profits of the firm, which can only be fee income from partners and associates (who generate more money than they are paid, if they are good) in proportion to (typically) their own fee income and fee income from clients they produced but billed by others. Adler can't believe that his other partners, or the partners if he's just an employee, all decided to forego that much of what would otherwise be their money, for Adler's work in making the firm paperless or trying to get PI clients he hadn't gotten yet. • The Adler deposition isn't so uneventful if you take into account that Adler may have lied about the forged settlement document, Pulp. Why don't you get a copy of it to post and we can all weigh in as to whether or not it was forged. That may make the deposition very eventful.
