If Meeks lucky, after Tuesday, FHP may still have a job waiting for him, either that or the prosecutors working the Stackhouse case may finally get the balls to go after both the corrupt Meeks. You should already know the details about how the 2000 election was stolen, and it was not stolen by any individual who would have chosen to cast a ballot for the candidate of his or her choice, whether it was Ralph Nader running on his own or any other person of the several minor political parties running a candidate. The fact of the matter is that Al Gore allowed the election to be stolen. He could have grown a set and taken command of the situation instead of playing in the damsel in distress mode. During the contest of the results of that 2000 thrown election, he was the Vice-President, and the U.S. Constitution permitted him to hold the constitutional office of President of the Senate. As the art. I, sec. 3, cl. 3 U.S. Const., President of the Senate, he had every right to voice his authority about those criminal acts that had occurred in the improper appointment of presidential electors and the incorrect tabulation of the ballots that had been cast by the electors (AND HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO CALL THE PRESIDENCY, THEN AND THERE, WHICH HE HAD WON FAIR AND SQUARE, according to the way that the major parties had been playing the game, under a corrupted Constitution). That David Boies/Ted Olson team-up was nothing more than a side-show (kind of like a good cop, bad cop presentation or how it appears when a republican goes up against a democrat or vice versa, when they�re basically shilling the same product). What the H*LL happened to the Separation of Powers Doctrine there? The Judicial Branch should never have interfered with the problems involving that election process (unless the Justices would have finally acted to force those under oath to behave under the edicts of the Constitution, which edicts had been b*st*rd*z*d for decades). The problems of the 2000 election should have been worked out by the Legislative Branch, which would have included Al Gore, in his position of power, as President of the Senate. There�s a reason that the founding document (of the United States Constitution), in art I, sec. 3, cl. 4, U.S. Const., had named the Vice-President to be the President of the Senate, while art. II, sec. 1, cl. 3, U.S. Const., placed (the Vice-President in his role as) the President of the Senate in the position of power and authority overseeing the presidential election, which power and authority had remained in Amendment XII, U.S. Const. (that had been ratified in 1804), although the qualification period and delegation had been substantially altered under Amendment XX, U.S. Const. (ratified in 1933). If the U.S. Justices wanted to get involved and exercise the art. III, U.S. Const., powers and authority of the Supreme Court, they should have put the kibosh on the way that the States were unconstitutionally making up a so-called slate of electors, which slate is then given a majority of votes under a Secretary of State, through inferior rules and regulations, like that of the Florida Administrative Code. Instead, the Supreme Court took a deliberate stance to enter an opinion in Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98, 121 S.Ct. 525, 148 L.Ed.2d 388 (U.S. 2000), that diverted the people�s attention away from the fact that the election of the President and Vice-President had irrationally taken on an unconstitutional style, in favor of the two major parties, that had taken control of the political arena in the United States (to the detriment of independent candidates or the best people for office, like a Ralph Nader). The action taken by the U.S. Supreme Court was disgraceful. �The decision allowed Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris�s previous certification of George W. Bush as the winner of Florida�s electoral votes to stand. Florida�s 25 electoral votes gave Bush, the Republican candidate, 271 electoral votes, defeating Democratic candidate Al Gore, who ended up with 266 electoral votes (with one D.C. elector abstaining)� was published in an article @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_v._Gore The opinion was identified as a per curium decision, finding the Florida Supreme Court�s method for recounting ballots was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. It was indeed an absurdity. It is the Congress, under the direction of art. II, sec. 1, cl. 4, U.S. Const., that determines the day the States are to choose the electors and the day and time the electors are to uniformly give their votes for the President and the Vice-President. No State Officer has the power or authority to arrogate that which solely belongs to the Congress, and the Congress can not delegate that which the Congress, alone, must continue to possess. It is my belief that the dog and pony show presented by both the Florida Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court was so that the people did not realize that the political parties had taken over, and that the Constitution had been abandoned -- in the push to elect the party hopefuls, that had practically sold their souls in order to get in the line to become a candidate, and then hold office, so a retirement on a fat pension with lots of benefits, provided out of the wallets and on the backs of the people, could be had. If the unconstitutional slate of electors would have taken precedence (over the constitutional prescription), Al Gore should have been the victor. The way that it was supposed to work was that the candidate who got the majority of votes cast received all of the votes of the electors (because the electors had been reduced to nothing more than a thought process that was as far away from constitutional mandate as it could get). What Katherine Harris had set-up was an appointment of electors, by a committee of republican Legislators, that would chose republicans to certify every electoral vote for George Bush, which was said could be done because Jeb Bush and other republicans, in the hierarchy holding elected office, had decided that (the Florida Governor�s brother) George Bush had won the majority of the popular vote (which was not known to be true because votes were not being counted and a recount had been ordered halted). The way that the game had changed to be played could still be dismantled, since the certification had to be delivered to where the Congress was located, where the President of the Senate (that would be Al Gore) had the CONSTITUTIONAL power and authority to call hogwash on the certification method utilized by Katherine Harris, who was not only the Secretary of State for the State of Florida, but the co-chair for the George W. Bush presidential campaign. A reason for the U.S. Justices to have gotten involved, besides quashing the way that the States had been unconstitutionally selecting their electors, would have been for the Justices to demand that the ballots be separated and be of a distinct character, as ordered in the Constitution. After all, the Justices did have a duty to perform. All judicial officers and all members of the Congress (as well as all members of the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch of the several, sovereign independent States) have taken an oath to be obedient to the United States Constitution, under art. VI, cl. 3, U.S. Const.. So, the Supreme Court had a responsibility to tell the Congress (and the Florida Secretary of State) to read the Constitution and stay within the parameters of that charter document, or else these miscreant Congresspersons (and Katherine Harris) could have been held in contempt, by the Justices, for acting in violation of their Oaths of Office. Furthermore, (no matter what the Constitutions or laws of any State should command) the United States Constitution is the absolute supreme law of the land, in accord with art. VI, cl. 2, U.S. Const.. Originally, under art. II, sec. 1, cl. 3, U.S. Const., electors cast one ballot apiece, naming two persons. The electors were then to make a list of �all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each.� This list would have to be signed and certified by all of the electors, whereupon the list would then be sealed and delivered to �the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate.� It would be the responsibility of the President of the Senate to open all of the certificates and count the votes in the presence of the members of the Congress, wherein the person receiving the greatest number of votes would be named President, with the person having the next greatest number of votes named as Vice-President. The 1804 12th Amendment to the United States Constitution altered what had been originally formulated, for the description of the ballot that would be cast by the electors. Amendment XII, U.S. Const., dictated that the electors (residing in the several, separate, independent States) were to vote by using two separate ballots instead of one. One ballot would name the person voted for as President. Afterwards, the ballots would be counted and a distinct list prepared listing all of the individuals that had been named as President by the electors in the ballots that had been cast and giving the total number of votes for each person named. This list (of names and numbers of votes cast for President) is to be signed, certified and sealed, whereupon the list is then transmitted to �the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate.� The same care is taken for the preparation of the list that names a person for the office of the Vice-President. These certificates, that are delivered to the President of the Senate (who is the Vice-President of the United States), are then unsealed by the President of the Senate (in the presence of the Senate and the House of Representatives) who only then proceeds to count these electors� votes. The person having the greatest number of votes contained in the certificate naming the President would become the President, and the person having the greatest number of votes contained in the certificate naming the Vice-President would become the Vice-President so long as a majority vote of the electors is accomplished. If not, the House of Representatives would chose the President from a list of the three highest number of votes, while the Senate would chose the Vice-President from a list of the two highest number of votes. The States can not interfere with this constitutional process (and the Vice-President would become the acting President until a President could be seated). The problem with the counting of these ballots, prepared by the electors, lies with the fact that the parties running for office have had their names, as President and Vice-President, put together on one ballot, when the Constitution describes otherwise. Moreover, the Constitution does not recognize party ballots where the President and Vice-President have been joined together. The Constitution recognizes separate ballots for these offices. This constitutional manner was not followed in the 2000 election, and was ignored by the Supreme Court in Gore v. Bush. Under art. II, sec. 1, cl. 6, U.S. Const., the Congress has been given constitutional authority to provide by law for any inability of the President as well as the Vice-President to discharge the powers and duties of Office, and the Congress has the power to declare �what Officer shall act as President, and such Officer shall act accordingly,� until a President shall be elected. The 1804 constitutional prescription (formulated in Amendment XII, U.S. Const.,) for exactly who would act as president, in case a problem developed in counting the elector�s ballots for President, was that it would be the Vice-President who would hold the office of President (if the office of President had not been settled by March 4). The 1933 constitutional amendment (contained in sec. 1 of Amendment XX, U.S. Const.,) changed the date, for the end of the term of the presidency, from that of March 4 to that of January 20. Additionally, sec. 3 of Amendment XX, U.S. Const., changed the take-over (in case of confusion) from the Vice-President who was the President of the Senate to the Vice-President who was the Vice-President elect. In the case of the 2000 election, the certification of the elector�s certificates remained with the president of the Senate (who was Al Gore), but the alteration to who would hold the office of President had changed from that of Vice-President Al Gore to Vice-President elect Dick Cheney -- that is, the Vice-President elect would hold the office of President, if there were no problems with the majority vote of the candidate. In that situation, where neither George Bush nor Dick Cheney (identified as running mates) had qualified, neither would have been able to hold office until appropriate measures had been taken by the Legislative Branch. The U.S. Congress is supposed to provide by law for a case where neither a President nor Vice-President has qualified, and it is that law which must be followed until a President is qualified. If there is a problem, after taking the extraordinary oath of Office, of art. II, sec. 1, cl. 8, U.S. Const. (to faithfully implement the Office of President and to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution), the acting President, under art. II, sec. 2, cl. 1, U.S. Const., has the ability to call the Army and Navy into service. So, here is my take on that election. Like elections held prior to the 2000 election, a disservice was done to other candidates for office of President, whether that person was totally independent or registered or affiliated with the Green Party or any other party or group. And, it was not the loss of my vote or any other individual�s vote who voted their conscience that would be troubling. It is most definitely the fact that Al Gore did not act to take advantage of the situation and the Supreme Court threw the case -- although all have been proven to act in ignorance of their oaths to maintain the Constitution as the supreme law of the land.

• Why would the people in charge of Florida's state pension fund invest in property in New York. Everyone knows land deals are dirty politics. They usually pay tons more for the property in the first place. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a kickback involved. Just because the pension is sound doesn't mean it wasn't used for a self serving purpose. That money was lost but somebody made a hell of a lot of money off the deal.

• Crist is old enough and wise enough to strategize. Something Meek doesn't seem to realize. Meek will cut his own party nose off to spite his face. He'd rather he and Crist lose than drop out. Some say he has balls for not dropping out. The reality of it is it was not smart for him to stay in when Crist has to split the vote with him and Crist is ahead and will caucus with the Democrats. Meek proved himself to be egotistical and selfish. To me he is acting like a gambler. Putting it all on the table and he will walk away a loser. And so will Florida. • Voted for Crist and proud of my choice. I voted for him for Governor, and I think he has done a decent job the last several years. Voting for Meek didn't even enter my mind. I'm a registered Democrat and I was a registered Republican many years ago. Party affiliation isn't what is important to me. I just use the party affiliation to vote in the primary elections. • This column is a little bit too sanctimonious for my tastes. Politics in America has always involved compromise and horse-trading. Hopefully we can work to change it, and Daily Pulp column greatly helps in that regard. However I see the problem in Washington not as �secret deals to trade away principles for power� but the nature of political ideas themselves that are gaining ascendancy and the increasing demagoguery used to sell them (are �Secret Deals� the problem or Mr. Rubio�s political ideas) The country is facing many serious problems. How in the world can the Palm Beach Post find no candidate worthy to endorse in the Florida senate race? Is there no difference between Rubio, Crist and Meek. This just fosters apathy and cynicism in the citizenry. If you pull back the curtain you see not Washington politicians but corporate power and money. But there are differences between candidates even if on the margin. The thinking man, the rational man should take his best bet and hope those bets add up over time. I believe president Clinton cares about the people and I support Clinton�s advice to Kendrick Meek.

If these persons have power, they will steal you blind and ruin your good name, knowing that the courts (where they have influence) will give them protection. In this particular matter involving Kendrick Meek, he was robbed of the opportunity to serve a constituency that would have preferred his talents to those thieving, lying, deceiving, manipulators, living off (and sucking the life out of) the system. As though there is any real difference between a large thief or a smaller thief, a minor scam artist or one more versed in the scam, a small-time pilferer or one that has assistants, consultants, and lobbyists in on the pilfering. After all, given the opportunity that it seems the politicians receive in high office, the smaller thief, con-artist, pilferer needs no extension of time to flourish and become one of the higher-ranks of such criminality. So, no, I will not vote for Crist. And, it is a shame that the Democratic Party in Broward County has been such a sham. Any hope of putting Kendrick Meek in an office that could assist the State disappeared when he was not given any assistance by the party that is supposed to provide assistance. What is wrong with this system that would intentionally chose style over substance, that prefers those connected through bundled campaign donations than the individuals that the people really need (and want)? (With a personage of pseudo-royalty, like a Bill or Hillary Clinton, taking campaign donations and exerting influence or peddling a stolen power and authority) maybe we don�t even have to figure this out anymore, because it just may be a lost cause.

• As I have stated before, I would never vote for Crist. I have given the same reasoning for not voting for Sink -- which is that these candidates are too closely connected to Scott Rothstein. The revelation adds a bit more detail to a story breaking tonight that's roiling the Florida race. It shows Crist talking about the way that a person can vote for him, which is by marking the ballot at number 9. Remember that there are plenty of voters that have not made up their minds, and they don�t want to vote for a person in the major parties. The ad shows that there is a choice for 9 candidates. Those in the tea party faction may not want to vote republican, as seems the proclivity (because they have been without a choice). What Crist may be doing is taking away the lead that Rubio currently has. There is also a possibility with this new ad, that some of the voters will bleed away from voting for Meek, as well as Rubio. This political ad is one of the best of all time. It really appeals to those sitting on the fence. If Crist destroys the momentum for Rubio and keeps his votes (AND gets those votes that Meek would have gotten) Crist might be seated in the Senate.

• This is off subject, but it seems that the rule is that all things Rothstein can be discussed. Here is the tie-in -- passports. When the plane carrying Anna Nicole Smith and her entourage landed at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood (from the Bahamas), they did not immediately disembark. They could not gain entry. From what is known, the travelers avoided the federal laws, by taking a flight into Miami, where they were picked up by a private limo service. Thus, they had been able to bypass measures, put into place by federal agencies regarding Homeland Security. Remember that at that time, passports for entry were required (although, a while later, lifted for about six months, and then put back into effect). I don�t have the law (and its variants) in front of me, but I have read the entirety of the packet, and the law was that no one was permitted in this country without proper documentation. This brings up the Rothstein activity at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood. When Sheriff Lamberti�s right-hand man, Benjamin, brought Rothstein (and his duffel bags full of cash-money) to the airport, they were able to bypass the scrutiny of Homeland Security (and accomplish several violations of federal law). How often is this accomplished at this locale? Why do the citizens pay such an extreme amount of taxed-money for these protections, when the hierarchy can pick and chose who and what gets through? How does this protect the citizenry when those of the hierarchy have already been corrupted? Exactly where was Rothstein allowed to travel (not permitted, since it seems that passports need not apply in certain situations involving a select few chosen ones)? What was Benjamin�s role? Did it involve his private business dealings with Rothstein, which had somehow sprung out of the intertwining of the police and gangsterdom in Broward County? Where is that money -- that is known to be at least a couple of million in cold hard cash? Which brings me to the Clinton connection -- Do you remember that Hillary Clinton was also around the same location as Rothstein? Knowing how that scam (that caught Al Gore, although never fully investigated) was played with the Buddhists monks in California with political campaign financing, it would not be a stretch to think that Rothstein delivered campaign funds to certain persons. Although Rothstein had supported republicans, remember that he backed Sink (and there was a little to-do about Scott Israel). Was Rothstein delivering a campaign contribution? If not, what did he do with the money (not the money transferred electronically, but the money carried by Benjamin to the outgoing plane)?

• I think Charlie Crist will back out next, the drama is not over. Meek should have run for governor.
