Mark Foley Gets a Shoutout on 30 Rock

Disgraced Congressman turned West Palm Beach consignment-shop owner Mark Foley got a mention right in the middle of NBC's Thursday-night prime-time lineup. Though it probably wasn't the kind of shoutout he would appreciate.

On last night's season opener, 30 Rock made reference to Foley's scandalous time in conservative politics. It happened around the 14-minute mark. We don't want to spoil anything for the people who haven't watched their DVR or Hulu yet, but as über-Republican network executive Jack Donaghy (played by outspoken Democrat Alec Baldwin) explained to Liz Lemon (played by Tina Fey) his persuasive power over gay men, he brought attention to his own eyes.

"Have you ever seen my eyes, Lemon?" he asks.

"Yep," she says. "They're very blue, like a Mykonos sky."

Then Baldwin's character replies: "Mark Foley once called them 'piercing.'"

In the exchange (you can read all the episode highlights here), Jack goes on to explain how coveted he is by gay men: "Do you know what a prize I am in the gay community?" he says. "There's a term for it. I'm a bear, and I'm a daddy. I'm a daddy bear."

Funny, we didn't think bears were Mark Foley's type.
