Miami Appeals Court Rules Against Florida's Gay Adoption Ban

• Does your personal life style make you unworthy of being a candidate as an adoptive parent? It depends. Would a child having been adopted by Pam Bondi and having experienced two different fathers and now living with a live-in boyfriend make Pam Bondi as bad choice for adopting a child? No. Pam Bondi is twice divorced and living with a live-in boyfriend. but even with these un-Christian aspects of her life I propose she would still make a worthy adoptive parent. The why does Pam Bondi not believe that gay parents are unworthy of also being good adoptive parents? It is because she is too partisan to be intellectually honest. Pam Bondi takes up the republican mantra that gay and lesbians are somehow unworthy of adopting a child from state custody without looking at herself and asking the question could I be a good adoptive parent. Pam Bondi has promised to continue to fight for the state's illegal ban on gay adoptive parents all the way to the Supreme Court. Pam Bondi is too much of an ideologue, too partisan to be the next attorney general. Vote for what is right for the state of Florida, vote for the future of the state of Florida, Vote for Dan Gelber. Give pam Bondi the time to contemplate her own life, her own personal shortcomings, to organize her personal life. Pam needs to look in the mirror before trying to foist the rest of the state with her extreme views of the world.

• Agreed. The problem is religion, primarily evangelical Christianity. I'm a raging heterosexual, but I go out of my way to tell them to stfu and keep their primitive nonsense to themselves. Far too much respect is paid to religious people. They need to be put in their place and outed for their dogmatic and backwards nonsense. We will prevail. We, meaning civilized, enlightened and educated people.

• Oh Virgil, I wish I could be as optimistic as you! After all, it took this supposedly enlightened system 33 years to reach this point in legal evolution...and the law is STILL on the books. True enlightenment will come when the law is overturned once and for all, and the crazies (read: the religious right) infesting Florida (and national) politics suffer enough electoral and legislative defeats to render their odious brand of politics a sad and distant memory.

• Good thing we have a legal system with enlightened people. If not, we would be stuck with the conservative knuckle draggers, religious zealots, religious extremists, primitive neanderthals, et al. Many who oppose gays call themselves Christian. There is nothing Christian about any of you. You are all a disgrace and are holding this country back in so many ways. Take a trip to Barnes and Noble. I heard they have books there that were published within the last 2,000 years. Try reading some of them.
