El Shukrijumah, al Qaeda Suspect, Was Not a Teacher at Broward College

This weekend has seen a media feeding frenzy following the FBI's declaration that a former Miramar resident, Adnan El Shukrijumah, has become the head of global operations for al Qaeda.

That may be, but media accounts have been spotty on other details, particularly those relating to Broward College, where El Shukrijumah was a student in the late '90s.

That's right -- just a student. A well-placed source tells the Juice that Shukrijumah was definitely not a teacher or a professor, as ABC has been reporting.
In the late '90s, when Shukrijumah was enrolled, he was only about 20 years old -- awfully young for a professor.

Then there's this CNN report.

The accompanying article has a different spelling for the primary source, Miami FBI Special Agent Brian LeBlanc. (Not Brian Lablanc.) And at around the 2:30 mark in the video above, CNN reporter Susan Candiotti stands in front of a huge Broward College sign while saying that Shukrijumah took classes "at this small college in South Florida."

Small? There are some 60,000 students at Broward College.
