Things started to get ugly on I-95 around Glades Road in Boca Raton. Wind gusts were thrashing gray sheets of rain at the car, and I could barely see the brake lights in front of me. The asphalt was beginning to spawn lakes. Ominous flashing signs announced that several lanes were closed at Copans Road and Cypress Creek, so I inched off the highway at West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach.
Turning south on South Dixie Highway, I noticed these sodden construction workers, trying desperately to salvage what looked like sandbags from the side of the road. Bad day to be on the job, fellas.
