- Three officers with the Plantation Police Department have been arrested, along with a Lauderhill cop and an FBI agent, based on an undercover investigation that they conspired in a mortgage fraud scheme. Also arrested was Steven Stoll, who with his wife, Rebecca, is a major Republican fundraiser. [Miami Herald]
- David Cypress has resigned from his seat on the Seminoles' tribal council in a shakeup that may be related to a federal enforcement action June 3 in which council members were found to have wrongfully used gambling proceeds for personal luxury items, not for purchases that benefited the tribe at large. - Broward County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger, now under investigation by the Broward Sheriff's Office, will hold a news conference at 11 this morning "to address this latest political dirty trick from my opponent's [Steve Geller] campaign." [Sun-Sentinel]
- Predictably, the news of rising FCAT scores in South Florida has been followed by a closer analysis that finds factors other than improved teaching to have played a central role -- namely, "sweeping changes" to the writing portion of this year's test. [Palm Beach Post]
