A look at what's happening in South Florida this Friday morning:
  • On the same day that Broward County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger accused her opponent, Steve Geller, of a dirty campaign trick, Geller admitted having "a number of conversations" with Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti, whose office is investigating Gunzburger for corruption. Of course, Geller denied asking Lamberti to open the case. Total coincidence, that's all! [Sun-Sentinel]
  • The capital murder trial of Paul Michael Merhige, the Jupiter man accused of killing four relatives during Thanksgiving, will not be scheduled till a hearing in Palm Beach County court this September. [Palm Beach Post]
  • It's the first day of prison for former Broward County School Board member Beverly Gallagher, who must serve three years and one month for taking bribes. [Sun-Sentinel]
  • A Broward judge has denied bail for Wayne Treacy, the 15-year-old Deerfield Beach student accused of attempted murder in the near-death of Josie Lou Ratley at a school bus stop in March. [Miami Herald]
