UPDATED: Jaimie "Goodman" Sign Placed Nearby Wellington Crash That Killed Scott Wilson

It's hard to pass this campaign sign and not think of a nearby fatal accident.

Anywhere else, it would be just another campaign sign, one of many screenprinted banners nailed into the roadside weeds by a Citgo station. But this sign's location is a little chilling. Driving by on Lake Worth Road, east of Lyons, only the big, bold name of "Goodman" is visible -- and it's just three miles down the road from where polo mogul John Goodman is charged with drunkenly blowing through through a stop sign, sending the car of 23-year-old Scott Wilson careening in a drainage ditch, where Wilson drowned.

The sign belongs not to John Goodman, who is awaiting trial, but to Jaimie Goodman, a candidate for circuit court judge in Palm Beach County. According to his website, Jaimie Goodman is a trial lawyer who belongs to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a club of lawyers who have won settlements of $1 million or more. He represents civil rights victims, and his platform is "equal justice."

Goodman's campaign sign is joined on Lake Worth Road by a couple of other banners, including one from Laurie Cohen, who is running for a court seat.

UPDATE: I spoke with Cheryl Carpenter Klimek, spokesperson for the Jaimie Goodman campaign.

"It's unfortunate that he shares the same last name as that person," Carpenter Klimek said, adding that the campaign hired a Ft. Lauderdale-based service to post signs around Palm Beach County.  "So we did not choose that location... If someone brought it to our attention and was disturbed by it, we would remove it."
