  • A Florida Atlantic University research vessel, the Seward Johnson, is at the center of a U.S. Customs investigation into whether it failed to pay taxes on some $200,000 in retrofitting work it received in April in the Bahamas. The ship's longtime captain has already resigned over the issue. [Palm Beach Post]
  • A homeless man named Robert Stone has been charged with the Saturday murder of another transient, Joseph Charlton, allegedly beating him to death with a metal pipe after the two argued about a cigarette. [Miami Herald]
  • After what was supposed to be a "courtesy" meeting with Chicago Bulls management late last week, Dwyane Wade is reportedly "leaning" toward signing a contract with his hometown team. Custody of his sons, who live with their mother in Chicago, looms large. Wade met Monday with Heat owner Mickey Arison to discuss the Heat's future. [Miami Herald]
  • A clerk and a store patron were killed Saturday night during an armed robbery of a West Palm Beach convenience store on Dixie Highway. The two suspects are still at large. [WPBF-25]
