A Night With Sea Turtle Hatchling Rescue in Fort Lauderdale

• You've gotta be joking. This Quran burning day is such a catastrophe to the United States population! Did that pastor lose track of the Golden Rule? Treat others as you want to be treated! There will undoubtedly be an international protest against this stupid event. Just watch.

• Have you ever thought about putting ads in your RSS feed? It appears you have a good amount of traffic on your blog. I know some readers don't care for ads very much, but it could provide a way to at least pay for the hosting or even get a few extra dollars. I know I usually click on the ads on sites that I read regularly just to show support. Just something you should think about.

• I signed up at the STOP website two weeks ago and have yet to be contacted about how I can help save the turtles. I've also emailed them several times but no response. They don't list a phone number on their website either. Pretty shabby treatment of a prospective volunteer.

• We have reported all of this and the police department has the footage to cite them for their lighting violations unfortunately it takes volunteers like us documenting lighting violations and reporting them for anything to get done. We have asked repeatedly for places that are in flagrant violation to fix their lighting but they often refuse Bubba Gumps is another poor example in Broward county they are in flagrant violation and refuse to do anything. Unfortunately all we can do is keep picking up the little guys and moving them to darker sections of beach where we release them. This is something only we can do because we are permitted to do so and we do not have enough help so unfortunately we cannot sit on every nest in the county. One light in someone's living room can make the difference between 100 turtles living or dying. Close your blinds and use only the lights you need please if you live on the beach you will make our lives easier and save theirs. Talk to your oceanfront condo management about changing the lights to red/amber and 40 watts or less it will save on electric and will not disorient the turtles put a motion detector on pool area lights anything will help.

• 1st. This took place July 10th. Has the City been notified? Has the City cited the Yankee Clipper for the lights? Will they turn off the street lamps on A1A and Port Everglades? Will the Yankee Clipper remove the beach chairs from the beach after dark (when no one's renting them anyway)?
