- Charlie Crist vetoed an insurance bill in what Republican legislators say is an effort to pander to voters in the U.S. Senate race. Jeff Atwater, president of the Florida Senate, says that Crist's claims about the bill being a boon for insurance companies were exaggerated. Experts were divided on the bill's merits, some finding aspects that would scale back fraud and lower costs, while others believed it gave the insurance companies too much power to control rate hikes.
