Former Cardinal Gibbons Hoops Player Shot Dead in Oakland

• Hyman was my brother and today is November 18, and the time is 1:47 AM AND I AM STILL GOOGLING MY BROTHER'S NAME. I AM STILL SADDENED OF MY BROTHER'S DEATH AND I ASK GOD TO HAVE MERCY ON HIS SOUL. AS FAR AS WHERE HE WAS KILLED...IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE HE WAS IN THE CITY OF EMERYVILLE OR OAKLAND IT WAS HIS TIME TO GO. IT JUST DISGUSTS ME OF THE WAY HE WENT. RIP TO MY BROTHER WHOM I WILL ALWAYS LOVE.....

• No follow-up article to explain how Hyman and his genius friends were trying to rob some pot dealers at gun-point? I notice people trying to paint Oakland as a crime-ridden city. Well, it does have problems with crime in some areas, but not around Ikea in Emeryville. And who was the criminal? A young man who brought a gun to a robbery and was shot during that robbery. Do I feel badly for his family? Of course. Do I think Hyman was the victim? Nope.

• I am in total shock!! Hyman was in my African American Culture class this spring. He was a cool kid and this news is saddening. My prayers go out to his family and close friends. This violence has got to stop and it really makes me mad that people kill for stupid reasons. The only thing that can change Oakland and the bay area is Jesus and the community coming together to take a stand against this foolishness. R.I.P Hyman Gone to Soon. I wasn't really close to him but i know he was a cool kid and Pray that his family will be comforted in their time of grief!!

• @Ruby this is not about what you are disgusted by. Its not about you. But of our brother whose life was taken and we will never have the chance to tell him we love him or hear his voice again. So please find somewhere else to complain about the media.

• Odds are he was killed in Oakland and the body was just dumped in the ikea parking lot. The Oakland/Emeryville city line divides the IKEA parking lot. Oakland is a horrible city, it isn't just the media's fault, it is all the idiot gangster and thug kids.

• If the event happened in Emeryville, may you please put Emeryville only and not Oakland. That is complete bull shit that Oakland is aways associated with crime and violence even if it lacks true relevance. As a Oakland native and a current student at the University of San Francisco, I am saddened to hear of this tragic event, but at the same time disguised by the negative name associate that the media plays on the city of Oakland.
