Did New Times Cover Inspire Rock Album Art?

See for yourself. On the right, that's the cover of the story I wrote in August 2009 about zoophiles -- people who love and have sexual intercourse with animals.

Now compare it with the image below, which goes with a single, "Round and Round," by Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, a Los Angeles psychedelic pop outfit. That single was released in March 2010, according to the band's Wikipedia page.

Quite a coincidence, isn't it? And remember, that same New Times cover has already inspired a painting by an Italian artist. Except in that case, the artist credited our paper for giving him the idea.

Oh well. It's a good tune, at least, earning Best New Music honors from Pitchfork.
