Morning Juice: Jupiter High Grad Kidnapped by Escaped Convicts, High School Just Got Harder

1. Three escaped Louisiana convicts who were arrested in Miami are being accused of kidnapping 29-year-old Vincent Binder, a Jupiter High School graduate. Apparently Binder approached them asking to buy marijuana at a gas station up in Tallahassee. The trio got the FSU student into their car on April 2, drove him around to ATMs, trying to rob him, and eventually led him out into the woods. Police have not yet found a body. [Sun-Sentinel]
2. Panhandlers can keep begging for money for a little while longer. Palm Beach County is looking to ban panhandling due to increased reports of beggars on roadsides and "people claiming to represent charities" but failed to instill the ban of panhandling Tuesday. Commissioners stated they want the opinion of Sheriff Ric Bradshaw since his office would be enforcing the ban. [Palm Beach Post]
3. Be careful who you haze; the homeless may soon be added to Florida's hate crimes law. The proposal was spurred by a 2006 video of teenagers beating a homeless man with baseball bats. If the bill passes, it would make Florida the second state to protect the homeless population in this way, right behind Maryland. [Miami Herald]
4. Freshmen entering high school during the 2014-15 school year will have to work a lot harder now that Gov. Charlie Crist has signed Senate Bill 4. The bill will not only get rid of the FCAT but also require students to take geometry, algebra II, biology, chemistry, and physics. [CBS4]
