A Boynton Beach man whose car broke down in the early-morning hours Tuesday was struck and killed by a motorist on Highway 27 in Weston. The driver then disappeared. It appears there are no witnesses.

The victim's name is Louis Abrams, age 68. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office release, Abrams was walking south on Highway 27, away from his car, which was parked at the side of the highway with its emergency flashers activated. The motorist is believed to have been southbound in the highway's left lane when the vehicle struck Abrams. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

There's no report on the make or model of the car, but BSO is hoping that witnesses will step forward. You can read the release and get contact information for BSO investigators here.
