NEW UPDATE: Cop Shoots and Kills Man, Richard Montero, in Palm Beach

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting another cop shooting this morning. A Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy evidently shot and killed a man, ***44-year-old Richard Montero ***, during a traffic stop at Summit Boulevard and Jog Road in West Palm Beach around 6:30 a.m.

UPDATE: It now appears that as with the PBSO shooting in Lantana two weeks ago, Tasers used in an attempt to subdue the man, who was acting violently, were unsuccessful.

The Sheriff's Office is reporting that a PBSO deputy had ~~pulled over a red Toyota~~ stopped to aid a man in a blue Ford Explorer. The stop turned into a physical fight, which ended with ~~the deputy~~ two deputies *first Tasing* and then shooting the man. He was pronounced dead at ~~the hospital~~ Delray Medical Center. Neither the deputy nor the man has been named, but the Sheriff's Office has said that he had a previous arrest for assault on a law enforcement officer.

This makes the second time in two weeks that a civilian has been shot and killed by a Palm Beach County deputy after a Taser failed to incapacitate the victim. The earlier incident occurred when PBSO deputies were serving a warrant on Allen Hunter in Lantana on March 23.

WPTV had this comment from the Sheriff:

"This is just another example an extremely violent individual that has tried to overpower two of our deputies. And that's why they had to use the amount of force that they used. They did everything that they could with the tasers, that didn't have any effect on him at all. And, at a certain point in time they just, you know, were basically out of gas and realized that this guy could get the best of them, get their weapons and kill both of them."

The sheriff did not add that in both cases, the victim was unarmed.

A call to PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera has not yet been returned. We'll update after we talk to her.

Most cops growing up were social out casts, losers, with inferiority complexs. Not to mention other major personality disorders. They are angry with society because of there defects and take it out on the weak in a cowardly manner. They abuse there authority and think there above the law. Most cops are pussys hidding behind there guns.....911 is the joke of your town.

My daddy was the best daddy in the whole world and you took him away from me. My daddy isn't even going to be there for my 12th birthday because of a "trained proffesional". He cared about me and my sister and brother. We couldn't see him everyday because him and my mom spilt up but now I can't see him at all because of that stupid cop. His wife was at the place he died, she saw the whole thing. So stop saying things about my daddy, a man you didn't even know, and find better things to do because all your comments are making me sad. Most of you are saying TERRIBLE things about MY FATHER you don't even know him! He was a father of 3 children Krystal which is me my little sister Krystina which is only 11! and my older brother Steven. He is a loving father and a good husband. The man who killed my dad had NO RIGHT to shoot him 5 times! He was ALREADY on the ground why would a "professionaly trained" officer shoot him 5 times ???? You are all saying these hurtful things about him which HALF OF IT ISN'T TRUE! Try having a father then someone taking him away from you! Then you get a phone call saying "your father died this morning."... It's hard. You shouldn't judge someone just because of what you heard on t.v or read in an article. Learn from this.
Its amazing how ignorant you "Law abider" sound. This man wasn't a criminal, he wasn't a drug abuser. He was a human, and you have NO idea what he was going through to be talking about him as if he were some kind of dog. Anyone without enough sympathy to look into this story more has the mind less of a dog, in my opinion. Everyone in this world is a human, and just because a human is called a "police officer of the law" it doesn't give him the right to kill a human the way that Richard was killed. Two "police" officers having to kill a man, who doesn't even have a weapon, is a disgrace. Its sad and I dont know how they could have managed to earn their jobs. Yeah, that's right. This short man who was against two taller "men" had no weapons on him, and the cops could have avoided killing him by taking other measures to calm him down. He was restrained, when the cops decided to shoot him five times, right in front of the woman he loved. This man was going through a lot before his death. He lost two of his close family members within the last month, and someone else in his family is in the hospital sick. This man was very caring, and he must have been in emotional turmoil. Am I saying he's crazy? No. I'm saying he had a lot going on in his life, and two idiotic and weak police officers had to come and end it. It shows how people with authority these days abuse their jobs by using their titles to get away with the most unreasonable and unfair things. Laugh at this if you must, and keep saying the most stupid and arrogant things.

His three children were at my house last night, in grief. Steven, his oldest son steven, telling me about the multiple shots.. including one to the head, Stevem was barely able to tell me the information that he knew..
I am a close friend of the family of the man cowardly shot by police(Richard Montero). The wife was at the scene at the time of the shooting. She witnessed the whole cold blooded killing by police. She told us that both police officers had him restrained on the ground. One officer stood up and shot him five times.
I'm not sure, who is PBSO OTT? W civil rights did he violate?
Was PBSO Ott involved? He has a history of violating civil rights.
Richard Montero is the father of my three little cousins, I agree with Jo Riggs, more time in self-defense training. Richard was wrong and intoxicated but none the less he was a smaller man, no need for his life to be taken by two grown men in an unarmed struggle.
