Pembroke Pines Native Tosses Perfect Game for Gators
|Brombacher has been stingy with opposing batters.|
Her achievement may seem a bit modest compared to the perfect games we know in Major League Baseball, in which a pitcher must go nine innings without allowing a single base runner. College softball games have five innings. But Brombacher's feat has occurred only three other times in the softball program's storied history.
Sounds as though Brombacher herself didn't realize she was on the brink of making history until the moment before she made it.
From the article at Gatorcountry.com:
"I realized it right before the last pitch and was like, 'Oh, wait. No one's gotten a hit yet,'" Brombacher said. "Then she hit it, and I was like, 'Wait a minute. No one's gotten on base yet. Please catch it! Please catch it!'"
