The Hit Heard 'Round the League

Categories: Broward, Sports
The National Hockey League, which met this week in Boca Raton, has decided to outlaw hits to the head. There's been talk of doing this for years, but the video below is what finally made the league act.

Painful to watch, isn't it? That's Panthers star David Booth was blindsided by Mike Richards of the Philadelphia Flyers. Booth missed more than three months with a concussion. And he avenged the hit not with a cheap shot (as a less-skilled player might have) but by scoring a goal and three assists last week in the Panthers' blowout of the Flyers.
