- Despite Miramar City Manager Robert Payton's name surfacing in the FBI sting case against former commissioner Fitzroy Salesman, the current commission spoke Monday of its confidence in him. Payton hasn't been charged with a crime and will testify for the prosecution when the bribery trial starts in three weeks. [Sun-Sentinel]
- Life in prison is the penalty for Tillman "Chris" Moore, who was sentenced Monday in West Palm Beach in the first-degree murder of his 3-month-old son, who was found to have burn marks and bruising on his body as well as a cracked skull. [Palm Beach Post]
- While the Broward Sheriff's Office is trying to get a new contract in Pompano Beach, the agency will have to explain how its deputy managed to flip his car while responding to a domestic disturbance call. - Donald Mathias, a 64-year-old man from Davie, will be sentenced today after giving a guilty plea to charges he traveled to the Philippines to have sex with two girls, aged 12 and 11, while the girls' mother videotaped it. [Sun-Sentinel]
