A few hours after a March 14 slaying at a Pompano Beach barbecue, cops caught Tony Petigny; but they didn't have the evidence to charge him with murder. By the time that evidence turned up, Petigny had bonded out. This afternoon, Petigny finally turned himself in.

The 28-year-old man from Deerfield Beach will be charged with second-degree murder in the death of Guytea Francois, 37, who was slashed with what BSO says was an "unidentified sharp object" and died the next day at North Broward Medical Center.

Investigators say that Francois was involved in a fight with Petigny and another man, Sonny Hilaire, a 32-year-old man from Pompano Beach who was arrested and charged two days after the incident.
