An otherwise rosy real estate picture for South Florida's tri-county area was thrown out of whack by a devastating report of foreclosure actions in Palm Beach County.

Real estate analysts at Condo Vultures found that foreclosures in January 2010 dropped by 23 percent in Broward County compared to January 2009 and that Miami-Dade foreclosures were down 33 percent.

Yet in Palm Beach County, foreclosure filings saw a major spike: They're up 76 percent. In January 2009 there were 1,206 foreclosures, and in January 2010 there were over 2,100.

That full Condo Vultures release is here.
