Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson: The Next DeNiro?!?

The truth hurts, too. And it says The Rock doesn't belong in a sentence with DeNiro.
This month's edition of Muscle & Fitness magazine tells the story of a man so devoted to his weightlifting regimen that he leaves his home in Davie and braves the 60-mile round trip to the University of Miami's gym. It's Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, wrestler turned actor. Here's the video of Johnson's workout.

The article itself doesn't appear to be available on the website, but I've got a text version. The moment that provides the choicest cut of unintentional comedy:
"When I was working with Robert DeNiro on Men of Honor, he'd get up at 5 a.m. to work out and mentally prepare himself for the role," says George Tillman, the veteran director of Faster. "Dwayne does the same thing before he starts a scene. I think he gets his spiritual mind ready for the role."
If that isn't outrageous enough, Tillman, who directs Johnson in Faster, then compares the Rock to Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood.

Hey, we're all for rooting for the homeboy. But at the same age as Johnson was jumping around a wrestling ring in a Speedo, DeNiro was stealing scenes in Mean Streets. Eastwood was daring villains to "Make my day." And McQueen was risking his life in one of the classic car chases in film history.

None of them -- not even DeNiro, whose career has gotten way off track -- would don a pair of tooth-fairy wings in exchange for a paycheck, as the Rock did for his most recent picture.
