Arlen Specter's Charitable Donation Too Tiny to Clean Rothstein From Campaign

Sen. Arlen Specter will only give away a small portion of his Rothstein money.
Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter was another far-flung politician to ride the Scott Rothstein gravy train, to the tune of at least $4,200. This morning, Specter's reelection campaign is reporting that it plans to make a donation of that amount to a charity. How fitting; Rothstein loved charities!

But this is no Capra-esque show of generosity. Specter's only giving away the money that came directly from Rothstein. From the Pittsburgh Herald-Tribune:
Asked whether Specter intends to contribute any of the related contributions to charity, [campaign manager Chris] Nicholas said: "Mr. Rothstein pled guilty, which is why we will be donating his contribution to charity. We are not aware of anyone else at his firm who has done the same."
OK, Nicholas. Are you aware that Rothstein was "bundling" huge sums of money through family members and his law firm's associates? And that this might be one of the biggest cases of campaign finance fraud in American history? If not, you are now.
