- A Broward County jury sentenced Ralston "Jay" Davis to death Thursday after a trial in which he was found guilty of a December 2, 2005, murder spree. Davis used an AR-15 assault rifle to kill a woman in a Lauderhill apartment, then the same rifle to murder a two men near the Swap Shop. [Sun-Sentinel]

- Officials who run the Palm Beach County morgue blame the economy for a surge in the numbers of dead bodies awaiting burial.
