The news in Broward and Palm Beach this Tuesday:
  • Police in Rye Brook, New York, say that an anonymous letter they received in July contains details of the Ben Novack murder case that, during the subsequent investigation, have proven accurate. Among the claims: that the death of Novack's mother in Fort Lauderdale three months before was murder. The Broward Medical Examiner ruled that Bernice Novack died from "consecutive falls," whereas the letter insists she was beaten to death. [Miami Herald]
  • Speaking of unsolved murders, Boca Raton police have released a bizarre new detail in the 2007 murder case of Nancy Bochiccio and her 7-year-old daughter: One of the victims was wearing swim goggles when they were found dead in the Boca Town Center parking lot. [Palm Beach Post]
  • Fort Lauderdale officials are negotiating with the police union in hopes of establishing stricter policies on allowing cops to moonlight as security guards the way they did for Scott Rothstein. [Sun-Sentinel]
  • Neal Jacobson, a Wellington man accused of murdering his wife and twin sons, will make his initial court appearance today in West Palm Beach. [WPBF]
  • Lynn University denied reports that the body of one of the missing students was found in the rubble of the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince yesterday. Four students and two faculty advisers remain missing, now two weeks after the quake. [Palm Beach Post]
